Author | TG caravan difficulty not changing? |
I want to know whether the botched TG update that made everyone get quadruple xp also made everyone's caravan difficulty freeze in place.
I've started thieving after the update, so i can't compare with how things were before. However, one clanmate said a remark: why am i winning so many ambushes lately, is the game broken?
Appears it may be. To compare: a demon caravan i fought nearly three months ago.

I've lost against approximately 40 demon caravans since then, and won only 2.
And then, a demon caravan i faced yesterday:

They're practically 100% identical in overall troop composition. I changed nothing; same min arts, same level. The caravan didn't change either, even though they were definitely supposed to decrease in difficulty by now.
Any input on this? | 1. there are several type of demon caravan. maybe you face other demon caravan when losing.
2. the difficulty increase / decrease are hard to observe. | plan to merge FPS imbalanced servers , by increasing exp gain & decreasing fsp gain on lower fsp server
oh admins you so silly ... | 1. there are several type of demon caravan. maybe you face other demon caravan when losing.
Wait, so, if i lose against a demon caravan, the difficulty decreases ONLY for caravans with the exact troop setup, and not ALL demon caravans? | yes | No, it decreases overally, but different set ups are easier to win, that's what cakur meant. | yes
No, it decreases overally, but different set ups are easier to win, that's what cakur meant.
You two appear to be contradicting each other. So who am i to believe? | Visit this for different caravan types
http://angelsndemons.freeforums.org/12-thieves-guild-reference-guide-t103.html | I think the author of that post made an unintentional mistake on "caravan types", meaning "caravan type of faction". I'm not sure and noone answers, so if someone is sure correct me please. Maybe we should contact the author of that post on A&D forums ... was it Jedi ? I'll contact him to make this clear.
Sorry GKH mate, it's just too weird for me to agree with that thread :) | There don't seem to be any real clear answers in here, its all a bit garbled.
Answer: The difficulty does still change. If you lose/win an ambush against demon, then it will increase/decrease the difficulty of the next demon caravan you face. Other factions are not effected.
However, as has been said, all caravans won't present you with the same troop setup. So differing setups will be easier/more difficult to win. Thus, you may find yourself winning several in a row, with seemingly no difference in difficulty between each one, as a result of getting lucky with the caravan's setup. | Each caravan has several caravan types - you lose against certain caravan type, next tiem the caravan type will be a bit easier, the same when you win (it will be a bit harder).
If you still played your best (with the same arts, the same settlement, the same strategy), then when you reach a point where you will be no more able to win against certain caravan type, you will have to winning/lossing ratio (from that point) around 1:2 (meaning 1 winning, 2 losses).
This is how I play my caravans... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AiB_pQQzlJq3dDFyYzlaRTU2UHlBU2t5OGJaQmJzdHc&ou tput=html | from lordswm.org:
if you won, next time defeated caravan (there are few types of caravan of any race) will be harder to kill
if you lose, next caravan of that type will be a less worse - but only a less of few units. | for cakur:
yes, this is the right.
No matter what faction you play, no matter what arts you wear, no matter what fsp you get for win/loss, it is still the same. But I guess only unless we merge with .ru, if I am right on .ru caravan weakening/strengthening depends on fsp you got for the battle | That clears it out, thanks for the info ! Sorry again GKH :) |
