in this battle, the ogres had to choose between 14 griff & 94 guards
i.e: 490 hp or 2444 hp
n they killed griffin
where as here
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?warid=504240017<=-1
they killed guardians instead of 9 clerics
i.e: 2444 hp on 720 hp
so how does this work? |
Probably they chose the fastest initiative based... |
for Akrisae:
yea i guess...
does anyone know for sure? |
If the clerics were 18 they would choose them for sure, when they are less they sometimes choose guards as of latest AI update ... |
Oh and BTW, Guards were full buffed there. They were definitely more dangerous than Clerics. They had more initiative than clerics, blessed, stoneskined.
I have noticed that AI focuses on my troops when I buff them as Holy Knight, while on same cases avoids them when I buff someone else. |
They were definitely more dangerous
how do they decide that?
there must be some way!
we know it by logic
how does the AI decide! |
They were definitely more dangerous
to add i would say that in case 1 too, guards were more dangerous! |
When I watch the 2nd combat... I found out that the Ogre Mage cannot reach 9 Cleric... Since it has 5 Speed only... So the Ogre choose to attack the closest enemy on sight which is Guardians... That's it... |
for Akrisae:
they reach it
its 3 tile forward n 3 tiles right
so they make it easily! |
for niranjan2009:
Oh yeah they can... My bad =/... Idk ... But I still think that initiative is the factor... |
I told you why. They were buffed. They had more initiative than Clerics, that's more than enough, AI tends to kill fast creatures at high priority. Shooters too, but guards were full buffed. |
more intiative |
AI tends to kill fast creatures at high priority
then why did thunder birds kill cross
n i bet that if ogres had 20 cross in their range they would have gone for it
if you say cross are shooters so are clerics
n they had 4 shots at that time + they were blessed
so its still hard to believe! |
for niranjan2009:
so how does this work?
Im not 100% sure but they will kill crossbows always. frist couse they are the dangerous then if your guards have more buffs then clerics ofc they will aim for guard but if they will be closer to crossbows by attacking clerics they are about to do it so they attack any troop wih will make them come closer to the Strongest unit [Player banned by moderator DragonEater until 2012-07-08 05:12:17 // posting with additional character (warning 1 min)] |
sry for post from my alt. i was thinking im in main. |
can someone give me A valid explanation for everything
when 1 point is covered 1 conflicts! |
there is sequence for the AI to decide which target should go to.
well, all you need is hunt more and learn the pattern; although i can only guess 80% all the time ;) |
It is much more complex than just HP or ini. From what I've experienced, ATK, DEF, both AI total HP stack and yours (that makes AI guess what is too big to be attacked, or to small to be worth), ini, shooter/non shooter, amount of arrows and mana left (and likely dmg but I've no experience of this) are taken in account. Note that higher doesn't mean higher priority; AI will leave high DEF stacks for exemple, so stoning won't increase likelyhood of being attacked.
I also assume there is a "base" willingness to attack each stack according to the unit type (guard,...). Mix it all and sometimes guessing what AI will kill is not always easy to guess, especially if you come up toying with stats with holy.
Now, if you consider your both exemples, it means that ogres favored griffins over clerics. Why would it be different? Griffins have high ini, quite low def, while clerics are tanks. Why ogres favored guards over clerics is less obvious. I guess that since there were no high priority unit around, it attacked guards because it knew it could harm it badly while it would have wasted too much dmg on clerics. |
it attacked guards because it knew it could harm it badly while it would have wasted too much dmg on clerics.
true, but does not happen every time, it will be great if i am prepared for it
so i was thinking.. if there is a way to analyze it.. it will greatly help me
but " well, all you need is hunt more and learn the pattern; although i can only guess 80% all the time ;) "
so i think i will need to play more

i am keeping the thread open.. |
My opinion would be "ownage potential". So I agree with it attacked guards because it knew it could harm it badly while it would have wasted too much dmg on clerics.
See if it went for clerics then they would've been owned by guards later, and as they were the only stack I think the shooter preference was lost. |
