Author | Cool down the market. Settle the price to a real offer/deman |
I recommend a modification to idea number 2. From what people are saying they wouldn't like to have to pay tax on selling stuff.
Why don't you say only charge the tax if the time period is less than 2 days. This way, people who really just want to sell stuff can put it on for a couple of days and those who just want to make a fortune out of reposting resources every 30 minutes have to limit themselves somewhat OR become more market aware and try and sell other things for longer. This introduces the economical idea of risk. Currently I could sell anyone anything and ONLY make a profit whereas in RL I could sell something to someone and then realize that
a) Someone else would have bought it for more
b) You undercut someone else and they ceased all trading with you
c) "Over Advertising" has the opposite effect on customers.
I would also like to point out that as the social rebel that I am I NEVER buy the top resources. I always buy the same price but lower down the list :)

It's all about charging the commission for using the market. The way it is right now, the seller can only gain: he gains money and he doesn't lose any. He doesn't risk any! This is a shortcoming that leads to the seller exploiting the market -- and the buyer.
You are forgetting that the seller has to get the commodity somewhere whereas all the buyer has to do is enter silly codes to get gold. Funny that you would think the seller could exploit the buyer.
Also, those hunts and quests are risky enough for me and they can mess up your character if you don't know what you're doing. The risk of not selling is not what I want to face after a fight. And for what? So that LG campers can buy my hard earned elements and artifacts cheap? No, sir. I do not wish to be exploited that way. |
Try to sell some commander art, and then, I'm sure you'd say a fee for posting a lot isn't fair. Some goods just have too low demand. |

I cannot see a single benefit from this idea but I can see a great deal of negatives. |
