Author | Cool down the market. Settle the price to a real offer/deman |
1. When posting an item on market, charge the commission (10% of price) automatically (weather sold or not).
2. Allow for longer postings, like 7 days or so.
"Why it needs to be done?".
a) Fix the market prices to a real offer/demand value. Right now many people buy items to resell them higher. They can easily influence the demand price by temporarily starving the offer. Market prices currently are not set by offer/demand but rather by people's market exploits.
b) Stop market exploits. There is no warrior's virtue in posting a lot every 30 minutes beating the lowest price by 1 gold. It's pathetic!
c) Market exploits brings in nothing, economically. Some make fortunes on other people's demise. Nothing is brought in to the economy. |
(10% of price)
Sorry, I meant 1% of price. The same commission as it is now, but charge it no matter weather the lot sells or not.
(This would also bring in more money to Empires' coffers -- more educational, scientific, and social projects could be funded from the new gold surplus by the government....) |

Well, if you don't have enough cash in your account to pay for the commission, you can't post, that's it. Problem solved... |
You have zero money and you need fast cash the first thing that you will thing to do is to sell items
if you arent able to sell items you cant have fast money
it will be better to me to pay the commision only if you have the cash to pay the commision... |

more educational, scientific, and social projects could be funded from the new gold surplus by the government.... and don't forget military weapons contracts, so we can finally invade .ru :) |

Resellers offer the most valuable commodity of all: time. I sell my elements and artifacts for the lowest price at the market and I don't care if the buyer wants to sell it with a markup afterwards or if he uses it himself but I want my gold now. If transactions are based only on production and consumption then I would be forced to wait longer to sell my stuff or spend a lot of time looking for and haggling with buyers. I am not a merchant. I have better things to do.
Also, as a mercenary and a hunter I benefit from the high prices of elements and artifacts. |

market is a war like group battle ( this is lords of war AND MONEY), and as such it is normal to have competition in it. Market is already disadvantaged by the minimum price requirements and the 3 items limit, there is no point in making it even worse.
Also, there are techniques for entraving those players that try to monopolize an item, it takes time and effort, but it's rather easy, really. |
There is no warrior's virtue in posting a lot every 30 minutes beating the lowest price by 1 gold. It's pathetic!
neither does your suggestion bring in this virtue.
it also depends on the perspective. you are talking about players fighting over each other to have the lowest priced lot, while trying to keep the price as high as possible.
anyway.. could you explain why you are calling it an exploit? i don't see the loophole/glitch/bug...
i'm not convinced yet, so for the moment: -1
laissez faire.. |

Not everyone is a warrior
There are merchants and tradesmen too.
So -1 for Point 1
+1 for Point 2 |
+1 for both suggestions. |

It's all about charging the commission for using the market. The way it is right now, the seller can only gain: he gains money and he doesn't lose any. He doesn't risk any! This is a shortcoming that leads to the seller exploiting the market -- and the buyer.
This is likely a not very popular measure among the masses. It is however my belief that such measure meant to rationally use the market, where both gain and loss are possible for the seller, would favorably contribute to the market stability with a realistic value for offer/demand products.
Additionally, it will inject another dimension to using the market. More risky for the seller where more care and consideration are needed, not only brainlessly reposting a lot every 30 minutes.
Mind you, people will still sell/buy on the market.
Mind you, the presence of commission for using the market will not remove the market from the game, if not the opposite!
Mind you, such change won't remove the money from the game either, nor will remove the competition in using the market, if not the opposite!
Mind you, this won't change the game's name either. Will still be called "Lords of War and Money"... |
IMO only presence of 'buy' offers will make market more stable.
Making charge for placing offers will only lower already low amount of offers as players will try to offer on forum instead of placing offer on market and risking loss on commmission witout transaction. |
people post TGI's on market mostly for 'commercial' purposes - so you're saying they will have to pay 1% tax every time they post a TGI for 1.1kk gold? this is just plain retarded |

does not make sense. u need to pay tax even without selling any stuff!!! |
