Author[debate] why waste your time if it is just for enrolling?
The thing is, what's the point in *just* doing that?

Enrolling may be the only thing some people do here but it is only one of the things people can do while online with a computer. My main activity on the net now is mostly browsing and reading while listening to stuff on YouTube. I barely even remember to enroll at times, much less fight.
for many high levels, alternative is simply not logging in to lwm at all.

ambushes, have to wait a lot to find a caravan. (other than many downsides of TG battles now, thanks to dear admins)

CG is pretty much meaningless for a normal 15 since mostly lvl 16-17 equavalents play there.

actualy desing of CG by itself, killed the GB spirit on this game. in the past we could see top levels creating a game, than watch easly. CG battles created somewhat hidden. and too expensive to play for most. Imo, after LG cuts, this CG design was the final nail on the coffin.
great thread, guyb, you raise important questions.

i'll address the main one: why spend your time NOT fighting? (or something along this line)

and to answer you:

.com (unlike .ru to some extent) is appellative to a small portion of the gamers community - hardcore patient gamers. and i explain:

-hardcore because you must be ready at any time to spend almost 20h a day online playing through an event (hardly happens, but when it does... be prepared eheh). and also to understand the very strict rules we all live by. this server is unforgiving... quoting from our beloved herald's profile: In our game we do not adhere to the "Presumption of innocence" concept. In fact, quite the opposite, we have "Presumption of guilt". if this not hardcore, i dunno what is.

-patient because it will take any player years to develop his char into a powerful one.

why not fight more? because you're beefing up you char just enrolling (LG gives def points). and making him richer. is that too hard? remember we're talking of patient players: we all can bide our time.

the admins announced a merger with .ru. if you're hoping for more MMO interaction, there you have it. just hope it comes soon.
Each day I'm creating around 8 GC battles, but my last GC battle is 3 weeks ago.
So to resume all opinions on the "why not fight", in a nutshell, it comes down again to that "we are building strong characters on this boring game for the day it will not be boring anymore".

Is there anyone else here that understand that the game is boring because players are not playing? I mean, it's the evident snake biting own tail.

I see now why all prefer to complain about administration rather than look at themselves.
"We" want more, "we" want new, but in fact when "we" get something, "we" not happy with that..? Everyone is saying "hopefully, soon, the merge", and they stay suspendend, breathless..

well, bad news: Look at history (just read old pages in this very forum), RU players have been complaining as much as you do, just on different issues.

The merge, the events, won't solve anything if "we" state of mind remains unchanged.

Also, a bit OT, but: Syrian, the sentence from Arctic has nothing hardcore. It just means that if you are suspected to be cheating on something IG, you have to prove you are innocent, rather than having the judges to prove your guilt (since they already have reasons to believe you so).

Which is far kinder than what I'd do if I was to administer justice - with me no chance to prove anything whatsoever: if i say you are punished, you are, and more if you complain.. <-this can be called hardcore.
Is there anyone else here that understand that the game is boring because players are not playing?

I'm now dedicated to PvP for a while by now. I don't expect players to change their views here; only those that are the patient kind can keep playing at, say lvl 6+. You know, just like Darwin said; only those adapted remain; here, only workaholics survive. But, tbh, if you know the "good" players, that's just easy enough to CG sending a few PMs. And lvl up IMO; the higher, the longer it takes ie the more the treasury fills in beetween. As per the LG thingy; really, thinking that victory depends on 1 DEF is not very relevant. It hardly ever makes a difference, really few fights are close ones.

If there is to be more events, you just won't CG... Because it'll drain all your gold. Easy as it. If you don't play CG before the merge, you won't later. I still don't undertand much what's so great about PvE events; first few fights are interesting, but then it quickly turns to the usual mob slaying because of predictible AI and very standardized armies... Well, that's not much relevent in this thread I assume, nor really my concern.

@ guyb:
I'm glad you're no judge! :)
found some mates/opponents for cg most of the time

i doubt if someone tells me there is no one online playing cg...

by the way, nice thread
Greed is good.

How about now? No? This is when I play. Yes yes, I know server reaches 1k+ online during peak times, but I don't log on at those other times.
for guyb:
But my question is: WHY?
Because I didn't level camp, I rapidly reached lvl 15. And after camping at lvl 15 for 2 years, my friends still haven't reached level 15.

My question is why aren't YOU level 15 :)

Becoz his a/c is 1 year old & urs 4 year O_o !!
Coming to think of it, I think I have a good reasoning for why people only enroll.

Let me ask a question first. Why do you play this game? You'd say - Its fun. That exactly the reason why some people enroll, its fun! Now you'd argue - How can simple typing in some characters in a text box be such fun? For these people, the fun isn't in typing those characters in the box, the fun comes in a different way. When these people enroll and see their gold increase, they start building up a sense of pride on having such huge amount of gold, especially those who are poor in real life. For them, having a huge balance of gold is what they describe as the fun element in the game. And they don't want to do anything, they just want to keep seeing their gold increase and get fun from it.
for Vlaer:
Man Freud would envy you... Was he your student?
But my question is: WHY?
The answer is simple (at least for me, 'cause I do the same when I'm busy) :
Stay online because you have something to do online, so in order to take advantage of you being online nevertheless, let's enroll by chance.

I doubt someone would log in just to enroll and nothing else, most guys who respect their life just combine enroll with other "business" they have online.
for Vlaer:
Quite interesting analysis :)

I would say that enroll gives risk free gold reward to be used later and 1 point in LG with so little effort that cannot be compared to nothing else.

If you like to keep playing the game but don't want to spend much time, then you enroll and have just some combats.
for Vlaer:
And they don't want to do anything, they just want to keep seeing their gold increase and get fun from it.

I think rich people are not satisfied with the gold they have, but with the opportunities to use it. I don't think people just get gold for nothing, I think they plan to use it on something that gets them the most benefit. I mean, achievements are something to be proud of, but gold.. everybody has gold and there are lots of people who keep enrolling, it's hard to be outstanding in this field.
You may be right for some people, but in my opinion, most people enroll for full arts battles, events, TGI etc. or because it became a habit: if they used to enroll and fight and they don't have time to fight, they still have time to enroll.
for Vlaer:
they start building up a sense of pride on having such huge amount of gold, especially those who are poor in real life.

Interesting. I do like seeing my millions. It is hard to become a millionaire in real life.
I have access to the internet for most of the day at work. At work I almost always have time to log in and enroll and almost never have time to do a PVP battle.

U Really think so!! But I don't think poor people in real life have luxury of playing a online game & saving gold in virtual world [that also 24*7] :D or MAY b the gold can buy them mansion with pool, car .. etc. !!

+1 :)

Who was he?

But the problem is, once you are very rich, some people just don't feel like spending their gold anymore. Yes, the main motive they started with to collect the gold was for reasons you stated. But then, greed sometimes changes them.

Exactly!

How much real life money would it take to only enroll? But for this, the satisfaction they get could be immense.
