AuthorSurvival Tournament Late Entries and End Times
I have some questions about Survival Tournaments regarding the latest time that a contestant's score is accepted...as I guess I am confused about this and seeking further clarification...

If a contestant enters the tournament seconds before the posted ST end time...then how long do they have to finish that battle in order to have that score counted? Are last minute entries that delay their battle completion until after the initial results are posted seriously allowed to count?

I am wondering this as I participated in the recent 100th ST tournament and noticed that after the results were initially posted on 2/18 and after having peaked at the results at around maybe 0230 server time, I was pleasantly surprised to see I had placed 3rd as a level 14 Demon (I was not expecting even top 50 as my scores/attempts were dreadful...thought my scores were off by over 100K points!)...I was even more shocked to see I was about a cerberi's cough (roughly under 3K points) from finishing 2nd...

However, after I checked my logs yesterday I noticed I only received the incentive prize (which is much better than gold prizes from previous .com tournys...certainly nothing to complain about/feel ungrateful about)...I quickly then went back and looked at the final scores posted and discovered that they had changed...a new entry and 2nd place winner had been added...I moved from 3rd to 4th...Upon perusing that player's combat log, it revealed that their winning ST battle indeed had ended on 2/18 at 05:51 which was a few hours after the original results were posted...

While I am certain this 2nd place player is much more skilled than I at this game/these STs and legitimately beat my score...it does seem strange to me that the posted initial score results are not fixed/final when they are first announced...not sure if this is some type of exploit as I had never noticed these "late entry" scores from previous STs...seems like it would be advantageous in some ways for one to suspend a battle, wait for the final results to be posted, and then expend whatever necessary final effort/energy is required to achieve the desired score (I know I may have played my last rounds differently knowing exactly how many points I would then need to finish among the top 3)

...hopefully one would not be able to also review the initially posted winning battle replay and then make adjustments accordingly during their delayed entry battle (I can't recall if ST battle replays are reviewable once final (or "preliminary final") are posted or until after the rewards have been dispensed)

[Also an interesting but unrelated observation was that the gold place/top prize winner level 14 demon finisher received a block 2 days before the tournament ended]

But...anyway...don't want to make myself appear to be a complainer or a "sore loser"...I am thrilled to be able to play on this new merged server...I am just seeking clarification on the end times of these STs...I mainly only have time on some weekends to invest in STs...so if I had some real life commitments to go take care of and tried opening a battle near the posted deadline...then how long would I have to return to complete the battle before it is too late for the score to be counted? Thanx
if you ask a question next time, just post the question, not a book. Then you will get an answer faster.

As for the question itself, even if a person enters the ST 1 minute before it ends, he can finish his attempt and his score still counts and he will receive a prize if it is high enough.
Auto time out for battles is 8 hours if i recall correctly. So the battle could end 8 hours after the ST ends at most. But I do not know how often the ST result page is updated, so there might be some delay as well between finishing the battle and updating the ST results.
And no, they could not view your combat. It was still disabled for other people to watch. Only "advantage" is that they already know the other scores when they are fighting.
Thanks for helping to clarify this for me...I apologize for my verbosity...I guess I should learn how to write more concisely...

So it sounds like I can conclude that a participant has roughly 8 hours to finish an ST battle and have the score count as long as they enter just before the posted tournament deadline...

also...the initial results/scores posted I guess can be just considered "preliminary" results and not "final" until 8 hours after the entry deadline...

wonder why the game would not just wait a few hours later until the 8 hours have passed to post the scores/results...
from upcoming ST:
101th Survival Tournament - #2168 (from 02-24 12:00 till 03-03 22:00)
So ending time is at 22:00

their winning ST battle indeed had ended on 2/18 at 05:51
This is 7 hours and 51 minutes later. So it is pretty clear he joined at the last minute, then he did his ST attempt and when he was almost defeated, he just logged out:

Devils wait. <= happens automatically after 8 hours
Tower deals 74 damage to Devils with the Chain lightning spell. <= he dies and battle is over.

wonder why the game would not just wait a few hours later until the 8 hours have passed to post the scores/results...
Because many people are curious and dont want to wait this time ^^
But there are only very few people that are annoying like this, so in next ST, after results are posted, you can go to the profile page from this player. And if he is not in a combat, it means the results for your faction and level are final (unless there are multiple of these weird people at your faction level....)
