Author | Improved sorting of the lists of estates |
Problem:
When players are renting rooms in estates, they usually pick the top ones. The estates are first sorted in the number of stars and that is good. The second sorting priority is the cost to rent and that is good too. The third sorting priority is the ID-number. It makes some estates much better even if the players hasn’t done anything do deserve it.
Solution:
The third sorting priority should be according to the last time an estate was visited by its owner. Every time the owner comes the correct area of the map and press a button, the estate should be placed first in the list. The button could be called “marketing”, “cleaning”, “serving guests” or anything else associated with hotels.
Benefits:
Inactive players would naturally be cleared from the most attractive places. It would encourage more movement on the map and raise the need for mounts. More mounts will cost more diamonds and improve income for the game. Increased movement will also improve thieving. Most importantly, it will be fairer to all owners of estates. |

+1 with Sven's addition. I have the feeling that there are a lot of estates owned by inactive or semi active players. |
+1 to the criticism.
I also found that Estates from .com player have larger ID number and they will suffer unfairly from the aforementioned sorting algorithm.
That being said, I doubt admins will do anything to it as fairness may not be their concern. And regular sorting by player activity could add up the server workload.
Perhaps sorting by donation amount is more appealing to the admins. You know, Estate is a luxurious aspect of the game anyways. This sorting does not need very regular updating, can help the admins, and is fair in some sense, yes? |
There seems to be a concern for clicking wars. To avoid excessive clicking, there could be a tiny fee attached to each click. Maybe something like 10 gold or so. I does cost to do marketing.
Either 6 hour limit or tiny fee. It does not matter to me. |

I would like to add another detail to this idea.
An estate that has not been visited by its owner for a long time should be automatically closed for guests. That time could for instance be 3 month. It is more than enough time but it still prevents totally inactive players from being involved in the game.
This will make fewer estates available for rent and that will make it more attractive to buy and build up estates. |
Very good idea. |
