lvl 17 mage dark elf + lvl 10 holy dwarf + lvl 9 dark necro vs lvl 12 might tribal + lvl 14 might knight + lvl 14 might dwarf (me) :

At mid fight tribal goes AFK. My question is: Could we have still won the battle?
And if yes, How? | you would have lost anyway | you would have lost anyway | i think you lost because you kinda ignored the lizards at start. that cost you some troops that couldve won you the battle. as he is almost out of mana at the end.
i could be wrong though | you knew the only way you would win is if he would run out of mana. So also putting all troops really close together, creates a nice spot for his spells.
And with the lava dragons at the beginning you could have at least used the incorpreal rune before attacking.
And with the spearmen, i would have shot at the dragons that were in range, instead of on the ladons. | I think we could have won if we didn't had an afk. But after the afk was gone, could we have done something else to win the fight? | Judging from the amount of tribal stacks that were left at time of akf.. and the amount of mino's left at the end...

It was impossible, but your team would have needed to be extremely lucky with morale .
The minos (with 80+ defense!!!) are in the corner, this means only 3 stacks can hit them (+diving grif)
After seeing setup (and 42 defense on DE) it realy surprised me how much you killed. well done! | i meant: it was not impossible, maybe you had a 1% chance | for end game strategy:
yes, move all remaining stacks away from mino... and hit with hero
But it is VERY rare to see any non-wizzard with the patience for that strategy.
Everybody just continues with melee attacks until it is too late. | I think the game was totally at your odds, if you had those sky shamans alive with high spirit, things could have been very different... if DE had kept ignorin them, they would have catalyst soon enough and then it was your game... but if DE had to kill them in their high spirit state he would consume mana and also take damage from your troops...

I know that mate. Even with him AFK, we had a better chance if he hadn't cast slow on minotaurs and lizard. Casting haste on our troops was way better, since we needed to do big damage fast.
Also I should have waited to rune my spearmen, to steal evasion from minotaurs later on.
And it was also "a numbers game". A few more morale and luck on our part and we could have won it.
On another note, I could have tried my luck and use "magic immunity" rune on my ursary and dreads, and hope for light and fire immunity... | Slow on lizards wasn't that bad.
Also gamble with your luck isn't always the best move to do, if you got fire and air immunity you'll get killed by meteor which is earth element damage, if you get earth and air, you'll get killed by fire balls and etc.
Steal minotaurs evasion should not be a bad move, but you guys need to have a very good range power, otherwise will be pointless.
Your range is not bad you could also used your spearmens to give some shots inside their range (taking care with meteour range of course), but your allies had almost no range power, I mean xbows without bless and outside their range or aimed shot range, they're a joke, and shamans are aeo magic casters, so that won't will change much.
Instead of rushing to kill enemy bears, you guys should've killed lizards first, then ursarys. Even with weak stats for beign under a chaos caster hero control, lizards are a very powerfull nuker unit.
Another small thing is, instead of taking ret with 1 dragon you coul've taken with 1 pat, and save ressurect runes to spermens and ursarys, which will had a much higher total hp and could've did a better contribution.
If your knight panther didn't put those cavalary on lizards range, he could've used them to destroy that wall, or even destroy those lizards with charge.
Also this knight should be a HK instead a common knight.
Of course the fact tribal left didn't help, and they could help with chain lighting on minotaur (or even finish other enemys), also haste your guys troops and takes some damage. Yes if he didn't goes afk you guys had a very good chance of winning, but keep in mind the DE was spending mana based on how many enemeys left on battlefield, so if he didn't goes afk, the chaos caster should save more mana and spend wisely, still will make this game very hard for him.
I don't know how much settlement beserkes cost, but they looks a good option overall, to have in army. | Thanks for all your feedback! :) | closed by SirM0rphius (2013-10-17 15:40:09) |
