Author | Email confirmation to be able to recover lost passwords |
Problem:
There are sometimes players complaining about lost passwords and they can't be recovered because the players have not entered correct emails.
Solution:
Send a validation email with a link. When the link is used, the char get some benefit. I suggest 2 diamonds, but it can be a weapon or something else.
I suggest the validation to be made when the char reach lvl 3. Maybe as part of the tutorial.
Additional benefit:
If the reward is diamonds, it will introduce the player to using them. The tutorial might even demand the use of a diamond to buy a mount. This will make it more likely for the player to buy more diamonds later on. |

The ability to be able to recover your password is benefit enough to encourage people to use a valid email. If they don't then I have no sympathy for them.
As email is not visible to anyone else then I can see no reason to not enter it unless you are trying to cheat by making illegal multiple characters a little less obvious to admins. |
Thanks DiN for providing another reason for this:
Any player making multiple additional chars would probably not bother to make many email addresses. They would either end up using the same email or no email. Both alternatives are good indications that something is wrong.

Lots of people (including me) have as principle to leave the email at as few places as possible. One less place can equal 100 less spam.
Regardless of that, I also have little sympathy for those that both lose their passwords and didn't supply a valid email. Still, there is the advantage of having more players returning and also have less players creating lvl 1 accounts to write messages asking for help. |

i will say your logic is totally twisted and not user friendly.
since nobody join this game after they studying the game history, rules and possibly difficulties like hacking, lost password recover options etc. They join when they found it in net or some one talk about it, So they may try to test it(true in my case) for few days, latter they like and start doing it regularly. i tried many online game, some of them allow me to try junk email name, some of them required valid one. the reason which i give junk is try to avoid spam into my email(since i have that bad experience in Facebook game)
As email is not visible to anyone else then I can see no reason to not enter it unless you are trying to cheat by making illegal multiple characters a little less obvious to admins. lol if admin caring this they should have to prevent it by asking valid Emil right. why they give an option to cheat? |

This suggestion reeks of "nanny state" mentality and is somewhat "twisted" (or at least "bent") in my book. I understand that we have a lot of children who need baby sitting playing here but we have to draw the line somewhere between admin chores and personal player responsibilities. They can follow your example of changing to a valid email by themselves after a while or so. I don't know about you, but it peeves me for someone to suggest to me to do something that I already know is right or good for me.
And I find it rather suspicious to be offered diamonds or freebies in exchange for my email. |
