AuthorChange orb placement in ST from random to fixed
Why is the orb placement random for different tries in ST? I think it would be much more fun (and fair) if the placement of the orbs was fixed for each level at a particular ST (and of course the same for all players). Fixed orb placement would add an extra tactic dimension. For example, you could have the choice of bringing your shooters to a less optimal corner just to get extra arrows.

The situation we have now, with random orb placement, often leads to unnecessary unfairness. There are plenty examples where orb placement is decisive for the outcome of a particular ST.

I have suggested this before when orb was first implemented, so a BIG +1 from here :o)
Lord Khellendros: Thanks, I looked it up (https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1908620). I don't understand why so many are against this change. It's not only about running over the field to grab a badly placed orb. If you for example have planned to block an enemy stack or attack it with your strongest melee unit on the coming wave and find out that on the square where you must block/attack is now a resurrection orb (which you are forced to waste) that whole try may be ruined.

im not gonna +1 or -1 from this post. for the most part i agree, but the placement of the orbs pales in comparision with all the lucky stuff that needs to ocur in elven faction for you to put up a good attempt. luck, crit, blind, knockshot, morale, enemy morale,hit/miss with phantoms(this is a big one)

so even if this is changed, it wont change ST for elves that much as the best attempts are those where you get 2 misses on phantom sprites and unis, and all the luck hits when needed

Well said by Shawn. It should be about strategy and not luck.
