All in all I think that the new ST has a lot of good aspects but I don’t like that with orb randomness (in aspect of location on the map) is has become even more depended on luck and less on skill
To me it is unnecessary randomness that does not add to the fun and the same time adds to the frustration of being at the mercy of luck.
A person can play a brilliant in a round for then just to see it all being ruined because my a slow 4 speed units need to travel to the opposite of the map, while another can have a average round and win by lucking out that the orbs are placed favourable. |

There is nothing wrong with the way it is now.
Just because an orb popped up far away, you don't have to rush over there to grab it.
Keep fighting and may be you'll end up taking it later. |

The idea of the orbs is a great one and adds to the fun of the ST, which did need a revival.
Most of the changes made give an equal chance to all players to succeed in the tourney - we know when lightning tower will strike, it isn't random. We learn what orbs will appear at each level - so the randomness is equal for all. But why introduce a random aspect that gives players a purely luck based advantage? |

if you want skill based then how about getting rid of luck and morale and having everyone use the same troop counts of the same faction withe same parameters and talents with no lightning tower.
this is the only way i see it could be based on pure skill. (this is not a suggestion) |

hm, orb is not the only randomness, if monsterstack triggers morale a bruilliant attempt might be ruined too

-1 if there was nothing up to chance, then these tournies would be boring, for instance, i had a best attempt even with a few disadvantages of badly placed orbs, but i still made it work. this requires even more strategic thinkin on how u r gonna grab that orb. for me i weakened a stacked then put trees on them allowing another stack to grab the orb. plain and simple. This may not work for other factions, but there are other ways around this, for instance, for de and demon, if there is one stack left, it will chase shrews or cerbs even if you clump the rest of your troops, this provides opportunity to grab the orbs, same for barb they chase orc chiefs allowing the rest of barb army free reign of the board. |
i find orbs randomness good, just because Khellendros doesn't like it :D
no seriously.. we have to think a bit more about how to move own units, its just a new factor like morale and luck that makes ST more interesting, thats my opinion. |
