Author | is blacksmithing for free ok? |
I looked up the rules, well skimmed but anyways and just want to make sure it is ok.
from what I researched I didn't see anything wrong with it but as the rules say ignorance of the rules will not excuse me so I just wanted to make %100 percent sure.
My intent is to raise some money to repair artifacts to raise my smithing level however I don't really have anything to repair.
So I would like to fix others for free considering the fact I can only do %20 percent fix, very low :( |
Yes, it is considered to be ok. Just make sure it isn't any additional chars involved. (Both you and the additional char is breaking rules if you repair their arts.)
I would however advice you to charge some. Even if it is only 10%. It is still a very good deal for the ones using your services. |
1 hour of smithing = 4000 gold = 1 guild point
e.g. you have 10k gold now, that would only give 2.5 smiths guild points. So people usually ask for a partial repair fee so that they can earn more guild points with the same amount of gold. |

Agree you can still get many customers with 10% charge
Also make certain that you really want this, smiting is very expensive and you will not see any noticeable profit compared to those expenses after you reach 90% efficiency |
only rule against free smithing is General Rule 3.14.1. (...) Financial assist disguised as payment for such services is forbidden.
so, for as long as you can avoid such suspicion, you can smith for free if you are that eager (and wasteful) to level SG that fast.
do mind that the suspicion mentioned in that rule is not that easy to override. |

Are you trying to say that smithing is not profitable at all? or should we read it like this..
Also make certain that you really want this, smiting is very expensive and you will not see any noticeable profit compared to those expenses "till" you reach 90% efficiency |
Are you trying to say that smithing is not profitable at all?
In most cases yes, it will take a loooong time before you can expect to see your expenses being earned back and start to show any profit. Most people will never see any profit.
Keep in mind that many MC has 100 repair cost for 90% efficiency and even non-MC members can easily get it for 103% cost for 90% efficiency. |
you can see the prices that smiths charge here: https://www.lordswm.com/forum_thread.php?id=121
as you can see, only 90% smiths charge over 100% (and thus all other smiths are losing money with each repair)
90% smithing is level 8 is 2885 guild points ( https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=10 ) 2885 guild points is 11.540.000 gold
but if for example you do 10% repair for 10% cost, 20% repair for 20% cost, 30% repair for 30% cost etc. then you will get
((30-0)*0.9+(80-30)*0.8+(165-80)*0.7+(310-165)*0.6+(555-310)*0.5+(970-555)*0.4+(1680-970)*0.3+(2885-1680)*0.2)*4000
which is only 3.824.000 gold. |
It's not profitable even at 90% efficiency. Smithing is an art, same as enchanting. You need to play for decades in game in order to retrieve your gold back. Also there will be a lot less "customers" once you reach level 8, since only non-shop arts are worth repairing for more than 100% repair cost. |
and enchanted ones* |
ok thanks every one :) |
