Just came back to the game a couple of weeks ago after a 2 year break due to RL stuff. Naturally the first thing I did was wander into the tavern, see who's hanging out, shoot the talk and see how the cards go.
I think I can actually believe the rumours I have heard. That somehow the game has been reset in favour of certain players and against others. The way the cards have been over the last 400-500 games, there can not be any other explanation. Not even simple bad luck.
Something has happened since the merge. There is no doubt about it. Since the day I came back I have lost more than a million gold, but that is not what bothers me. After my one day of being up the other day,t I have to go back to page 14 on my game log before I see a profit. At 40 games a page, that means about 440 games of consistently losing.
I'm talking about over hundreds of games here. Not just 5 or 10 or 50. Hundreds. The decks are consistently, relentlessly impossible but it is more than that, there is the way cards are dealt which seems to mock me. For example when your mine is reduced to zero, you have 5 or 6 ore and are waiting and waiting and waiting for that + mine card. It finally comes, on the last turn before your tower is destroyed.
Things like this occur way too often, but not as often as the way my opponent consistently - and I mean always, about 90-95% of games - gets resource advantage, right from the start of the game. This is not just in my last 7 games, but about 9 out of every ten I have played since I came back. Naturally when I mention this to people and tell them to check the game log of our last 7 games or so, they go quiet.
The only time I have been 'up' is when I have joined others' games, rather than opening my own. THIS tells me something, and it is why I have no more time for it.
Call me a moaner, but the simple truth is that something has happened to the tavern game, the mechanics of it, and it stinks.

Some report that cheaters are able to make you disconnect if they are losing, but not much lately because it got suspicious I guess.
And did you hear that ? There are some Golden cards they say that give you +1 card at the beginning of the game, which surely gives you an advantage, small or big. From all the rumors I hear, this one is the easiest to believe. | New cards were added after merge,
i guess you're talking about the prism and elven scout card? those new cards are already added before merge

Where do you heard that? Never seems like an issue to me

When the starter of this thread was around, we were still on .com and with some hundred players that were lazily staying around. Now, with some thousands, obvieously the level rised.
Beside he stopped playing for 2 years, and of course lost his 'hand' at the game.. but yes, it's easier to cry for cheat and quit ruefully rather than admit that.. | | Rofl sareth, I'm just joking ... | Rofl sareth, I'm just joking ...
