Author | demons insight tournament |
guys i just noticed in the tounaments results page that there is a demons insight tournament results. that too after the dwarfs insight tournament. as far as i remember demon was introduced even before i joined the game 2008 and was one of the game starting factions. then why is the insight tournament there? |
I think it must be for alt faction of demon. |
the first demon insight tourny wasn't for the introduction of the faction, but rather because there were too few players playing it. admins tried to make it more popular that way: https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1894386 |
its still not too popular. wonder why. |
its still not too popular.
And you have detailed numbers proving your point, of course. |
for randomr1:
its has something to do with cultural beliefs,people usually dont like devil/demon/evil things |
i like demons, they looks cool, they are not evil as we thought. |
@Derelict
and what do u mean by that? i am wrong? well it IS the least played faction, only 5.7%. ur sentence has a double meaning so i dont know u mean, and yes i DO have numbers, check this, https://www.lordswm.com/plstats.php scroll down a bit.
@Fallen Atheros
i think that might be kinda true, i dont especially like the demon castle, looks kinda too intense, but it could be just me. but then again necros r doing pretty well so i doubt that cultural or religious beliefs r driving players against demons. i think they r still fairly playable. i think their main problem is they can pretty much only rely on horses(before lev 14, classic demon) because succubi arent the best shooters, cerberi die fast and incendiaries r too slow. i personally think DD is not too interesting to play either, u just cast dark spells and leave the killing to ur partner(s). also fiends, the only legit troop dd has, is totally useless if ur opponent has some dark magic(like necro) and casts curse on fiends. but sure from lev 14 on they r very interesting with the horse upgrade and devils. |
well it IS the least played faction, only 5.7%.
Oh yes, the chart that hasn't changed in 3 years and which records all the accounts ever created (even the inactive ones).
You're just conveying your personal feeling for the faction, without any solid fact or knowledge of how it's played. |
for Derelict:
That chart changes regularly.
Here are some screenshot comparisons showing you that Randomr is correct;
Sept 13th 2009 - http://prntscr.com/82xt06
Sept 2010 - http://prntscr.com/82xtg7
Dec 2010 - http://prntscr.com/82xtyb (Around the time of the demon festival, hence why they saw an upshot in popularity).
July 2013 - http://prntscr.com/82xufr
Jan 2014 - http://prntscr.com/82xuzy
Furthermore, the chart does not record all accounts (including inactive accounts).
Guildofheroes lists the percentages of players playing each faction;
Knight - 14.25%
Necro - 12.8%
Wiz - 7.84%
Elf - 19.65%
Barbarian - 9.9%
Dark Elf - 19.75%
Demon - 6.83%
Dwarf - 5.64%
Tribal - 3.34%
Which are considerably different to the numbers listed on the top players page. The reason for the differentiation is that Guildofheroes includes all inactive players, whereas the charted list on top players does not. The overall number of players playing tribal is significantly lower (which makes sense, as they were introduced later) than the number that are actively playing it.
Knights - 12.2%
Necromancers - 9.9%
Wizards - 8.1%
Elves - 19.9%
Barbarians - 9.2%
Dark elves - 17.1%
Demons - 5.7%
Dwarves - 9.3%
Tribals - 8.6%
As to the original question - It was initially intended that they might have faction festivals for each faction. That included an insight tournament and a discount on castle buildings. Demon was the first one to be held. |

yes, i read too from syrians link that they intended to held festivals for each faction but years passed and they didnt, so they just dropped the idea i guess.
anyway i think things r getting off topic now. |
Good to know, thanks Corey and sorry for my misunderstanding.
Why does only the elite play Demon, then, indeed ? ;o) |

what do u mean by the elite? high level players? if u mean that then its obviously because demons r much more interesting to play at higher levels than at lower levels. read post 8. |
He's demon 10. Got your answer? ;) |
he is demon 10, so? how does it have anything to do with the popularity of demon? :P |
demon population is always the least, not surprising. |
I think Demon is very difficult to play well when gating is used. It requires thinking ahead some more because stacks will pop up later and stay immobile before they can be used. This also make the battles longer when the double amount of stacks must be moved.
The added difficulty and longer time makes it unpopular imho.
PS.
I'm playing Demon now and realize that I'm a total noob. :D |
for Lord STB:
this is true, i always find myself noob when using red demon :) |

Nothing. One should never explain jokes. :-X |
