Finally got what I needed for tribal cyclopses build.
Although I think I will skip on any of the shamanesses.
Just all 4 types of tribal cyclopses and tribal goblins as a snack.

My first try with T-cyclops + T-gobos.
Won it, although I don't think I played well. It was just an exploratory battle. I wasn't satisfied. It will not work well against templars with many shooters.

Next one I tried was with shamanesses and no t-goblins. It went better.
LVL 23 seemed easier than the one I did previously with dragon build, however, it was a rather different opponent.

The general conclusion is that it is very difficult to control great and unfettered cyclopses to avoid AI taking advantage of their AoA. I actually wasn't paying a lot of attention to it, so I guess the placement can be managed better.
Also, noticed that great tribal cyclopses' evil eye is working very well. Crush ability is extended it to all hit targets. |

The battles are very fast, no need to play defensive... Just I am not sure if this woudl works against higher levels. But for now it's ok. |

I like the combo of Titans & upgrade Tribal Cyclops. Pit demons are also useful for the larger creatures due to "always kill one" ability if you can bait them in. |

I think my build could still do with tweaking, though is pretty sound. My thinking is that the PoT armies generally have good shooters (several with no range penalty) and also good defence against shooters (shielded, ability to get troops back or half ranged damage)or the potential for high counter attacks if you get close.
To me this means three options - go for lots and lots of meat with ranged resistance (defers control to them too much for my liking ie your tactics are more reactionary)
Go for a crash attack - low survivability either you use dragons which are expensive or you use cheaper but frailer troops - inconsistent outcomes
I have gone for retaining the ranged advantage but to have the meat for a counter attack without melee penalty - given the ideal is to have your 4 large stacks as top tier I have got titans, stormcallers, giants and lava dragons - coupled with two types of cyclops and some priests for evasion
This foces them to advance which means they are then in range of shooters, or can be countered by lava dragons or giants. If the shooting is more even the lava dragons usually last (lower AI priority) to get across and finish the last shooters.
Currently trying to get the last giant, lava dragon and cyclops upgrades. Not sureif they will be too costly, but three top tier shooters and a counter attacker will be rather sweet methinks. |
