Author | Where did they all go? (Old .Com Players) |
i found this game through an advertisement, i just wonder why they are so adamant in making this game a russian only game... |
for cyberclops:
It's far more profitable that way.
To be honest I don't blame the admins for that, I would have probably done the same.
for Calamity:
Yeah you're probably right, there are many things that the admins could do to help .com, but for many players it might not make a difference. Stuff like having a much larger English population, more and faster translations, and other stuff I can complain about are not necessarily that important to manny players. |
there is just one "active" .com clan now
Not true, EFL is active

They dislike lawsuits? |

A lot of the game is copied from HoMM (probably without rights?) so it's by and large unsafe to advertise I presume.

Yup
I rejoined the game after a long gap,and it is much much better, most definitely, but the forums used to be livelier back then,no idea why the change, but the game is certainly evolving |

This game assumes itself as a fan-made spin-off, without commercial goals (sustained by willing donators to the project). Ubisoft won't go to Russia to dispute this in their courts, obviously. Let's leave it at that.
the forums used to be livelier back then
There were more players. And quite a few of those who still play were actually .ru-based, so they dropped the .com accounts after the merger. |

Hiding in the dust likely, ninja .com players :o |
Hello Friends,
I'm one of the ancient ones. I remember my correspondence with Arctic and Sir Jedi Knight back then. I recall our envy at the.ru players for having frequent updates as our server (.com) died slowly. I was there when the mountain erupted and covered our beautiful land, forcing us to migrate...
Well, enough of sentiments. I've first introduced to the game in 2008 on .com server. As an avid HOMM player when the game was named: "heroes of war and money". I left/returned to the game a few times with different accounts, some of them got banned and some abandoned. I didn't keep track record of my accounts due to my work and family. My current return was in late 2016 with this account. Things have changed and you guys did help me with my questions to speed up my learning curve.
@All: The game started as HOMM variant but soon turn to it's own path. Actually, I've tried Ubisoft HOMM variants (MMO). They were inferior in comparison to LORDSWM in terms of complexity. At certain point, I even thought that if there are smart people in Ubisoft, they will purchase LORDSWM.
It is a great game and I enjoy it very much.
I wish all of us good gaming and a lot of fun.
Yours,
HM |
Hmm I am just looking at the game after 4years break :D My nick was Vitzyas, but I cannot recover the password so I made new character lol :D Little shame for this 15 level, enchanters guild etc. :D I wonder if I get hooked again I spent really a lot of time back then :) |
Still here (Nutella. Go Wrathies!). If you want to consider me as old.
I think forum isn't that lively anymore because of less active players and for the reason we escaped the Dark Age. Beeing left alone by admins was a bond, which doesn't play that huge role anymore like in the past.
Oh yeah, and forum clan wars stopped, which were a not so small part of discussions. I somehow miss b**ching with Modi and the other guys. :) |
There's still a few old .com players poking their heads in every now and then, just have different names...
After playing this game for almost 10 years, it's hard to continue the daily grind. |
I remember ppl like antviolence being quite helpful and nice ^^
... You were a drunkard back then, buddy..? :? |
I also been around since 2008 , loved the 3vs3 and 6 man everyman for himself type of fights. Yeah the game had a lot of english speaking players back then. still remember whenever i used to make a battle i would write "u want some , come get some" :D
Pretty sure now i write it noone will understand , maybe use a translator lol. Then i got busy with my university and studies and didnt play it for a few years , the population also died very badly , used to login and see 40 people online was no fun.
Then i just checked it around 2014 and saw 10k people online and i was so happy to see it back live and breathing.
I am just happy that we have players , its a lot better than the end days of .com before merger , had to make battle like 3 times to finally get enough players for 2v2. and now all awesome. |
And when I talk with other actually "new" players, they never felt like that either, it's an oldie thing it seems. :D
Grandpas and grammys tend to be grumpy. They have forgotten what they called the "dark ages" when they were overjoyed for each event and hoping for a merge. |
In other words: Nostalgia.
Yes, It was great back in the old days when I saw the number 112 players online. We did hit rock bottom...
Leaving this aside. There is a healthy international community who speak English. Let us hope that more will join.

And what about good old "Modi" - he is online today.
I remember what personal wars he made against some Warrior's Guild mates :)) |
i had a previous account which was banned named lord pradheep
i remember brilliant the enchanted mage
coolhead the roulette freak
fought with ektoras and other great players
the account was blocked due to illegal activities and started new and clean this time
i dont know if others know me well , but i know them well |

Definition of a stalker xD
Jk I'm thee same lol... |
Still here.
I know my ID# was 5 digits, I think it was 30k-something, I really can't remember.
I remember when they changed how the wizard's enchantments worked, and overnight all the wizards got a huge refund.
I remember when 0 durability artifacts sold for a sum including gems/crystals/etc..
I remember wishing .com would get artifact renting.
I remember when presents could be used in tournaments.
I remember building the lighthouse. I wish I hadn't sold back all of the building materials, (marble?) just for the novelty of now having them show up in that column that shows the miscellaneous stuff like steel and toadstools. Also, I think that was before they awarded little event icons showing that you participated and how well you did.
One thing, of course, is that after the merge, if you wound up having more than three accounts, you had to decide which accounts to abandon. So some older .commers might have had to do this -- myself included. |
I remember exchanging 600k gold to 40 diamonds to get Clerics upgrade at 13lvl. At that moment it seemed as the best thing to happen :) |
