Sorry if I ask sometimes "Silly" stuff in the Forums, but I am curious :P And like totally Serious.
I was talking to a friend about "The old times", and he told me about many players whose names I actually forgot, and now I recall, and I dont see them here anymore.
People like Shebali, Takesister, Gurumao, Decrous, Sven91, Sry, SoSry, Slinky, Erocs, MyDoom...
When I was told their names (And many others I dont recall now while writing this), a flash came to my mind, a very long time.
Where did they go?
Now that the game is "Getting better" and we are getting more stuff, I see there are actually less people in .Com, which doesnt make much sense, should be the other way round totally! (Yes, I know the "Advertising" thing, but still...)
Anyway: Why so? Maybe thy just "Carried on with their lives", which is OK.
(I mean we are less people in .Com now that we were in the old .Com server alone, before the "Decay/Fall", and all that stuff...)
Like, I recall there were like 2 full active clans of ONLY Spanish speaking people, now I count like 5 with my fingers in the whole game.

It is harder to spot some due to them changing names, some have some have not.
Some were people that came over to .com from the .ru server, and happily spend their time in russian clans with low involvement of the forum. So they are here in the game, just not noticed so much in the .com world.
OFten you can find their new names through looking at peoples old transfer logs which therefore has their old name in. Specifically it will say at this point

I did spend a while looking but cannot remember exactly who was who now.
I think some where put in a thread a while back along similar lines - I'll have a look.
As for one that you have mentioned Shebali still logs on from time to time though I think just does the tavern game and pretty much nothing else. With regard for real life, I haven;t a clue or anyone except me :) |

Just browse through old records and you will find more than you realise still logging in occassionally, that took a few mins of looking with no real pattern just names I recognised from way back when. |

The game has changed so much since then, it's so much better an active now. I would've easily quit the game if there was no merge. |

Oh those good old times... I started with this game back in 2008 and also miss many of my old colleagues :)

Yeah I miss seeing names like Alyna around ;) And I wonder who was the one close to her in exp, since AKA mentioned it, it's probably Antos. Plus I kinda miss my old friends I found here, almost none of whom are still around.
Another player I miss is quinn or something like that. When I first started playing at about '09 I started with necro and she was the best necro in .com ^^ I also think I watched many of her ST wins, I learned how to play ST long ago from that. Pretty sure she wrote in her profile that she'll return when cl 17 is introduced but she never returned even after the merge.
To answer the question, I would say a vast majority of players left... especially during the time arctic got inactive and game received almost no updates, and had nothing new. As mentioned, there is just one "active" .com clan now, earlier there were so many - EW, WG, GoD, Cobra thing, etc.
Some actually discovered this new world called heroeswm.ru, which was wayyy better than lwm in terms of updates and stuff and kept me in the game, but for many playing in .ru was too inconvenient. Speaking of that, I remember it was nice to find a clan here, Empire's Crusaders... I remember ppl like antviolence and ektoras being quite helpful and nice ^^
Wonderful memories, but it's sad because .com has been completely abandoned by admins. There are actually ads and stuff in russian websites so .ru is getting some new players, but .com has almost zero new players coming in. Most "new" players are just those who are back after a long time. I'm not even surprised the don't even try to improve stuff in .com, but well no point in ranting. |

I never felt like that, maybe because I only started to play the game on 2013.
And when I talk with other actually "new" players, they never felt like that either, it's an oldie thing it seems. :D |
