I know very little about card games, though. |
As a continiuation to your thread ipsen, I can tell you 2 ways card games have skill involved.
One is tactics, for example saving a big card for a finishing blow, like collecting 3 tower damage cards, then try to lower his tower to that number with regular damage and finish him off with direct damage you were saving.
Second one works only in single deck games. You need to remember cards that were played recently. Using this, and the knowledge that your opponent does not have the cards you have, you can predict what cards he has, for example, if you did not see dragons eye for a while, do not let his tower get in +20 to win range, cause he probably has it. Same for yourself, you have a dragons eye but cannot play it cause low monastery? Dont discard it, just so you would prevent opponent from getting it. |
For Frostice:
Everyone has a chance to win in them (even tho I never did :(((( )
However, I suggest you first play a lot of free games to understand the game better :) |
Yes you do ! |
for Frostice:
Yes of course, even complete noobs can get lucky an win. But I will not recommend it to you. If you are interested play at least a 100 or so games (from Empire's Capital location) and once you have somewhat gotten the hang of it and want more of a challenge try playing with gold at stake. Unlike roulette, this is not 100% luck based, there is also skill involved. |
I would recommend not playing with any gold at all for a while until you can win at least half of the games you play. Even then, start with small bets instead of big bets. You can lose money in tavern just as easily as roulette. Roulette is just much quicker. Take it from someone who has been in the negative for tavern for like the past 3 years. My highest point was around 90k in losses, and my lowest point was around 10k in losses. I have not been able to get back in the positive range yet |
Also, I noticed that you have entered tournaments already and lost a total of 2,000 gold. I would not recommend doing any tournaments either because you have to beat like 6 opponents in a row in order to win. You have people who have played 1000s of games and know the deck and how to play the timer right. Start small, man. |
Ah i get it so i shud not play tourneys then :D |
And one more think i am gambler's guild lvl 1 why cant i stake 40 gold?? |
Hmm maybe you need to be lev 3, just a guess though. |
Anyone wanna play tavern with me?? |
cant bet if ur not level 3 |
While many of the tactics of this are easily understandable - judgement is more significant than people often realise. Much of this comes from knowledge of the deck. Whether it is important to build your wall is an assessment of risk of what cards have played, which ones are left and the amount of resources your opponent has. Similarly whether your hand and current resource generation (and theirs) is best suited to you trying to build up or to destroy theirs.
Many time it is necessary to take -1 to your monastery to prevent the sudden win from a dragons eye etc. When you need to do this is based around knowledge of how much mana they need - so you can delay it. Sometimes one knows you are in a worse position and that you are better gambling to get lucky to get a big blue card to build your tower and therefore not build your wall because either you win in the next few turns or you are going to lose overall.
Only gamble what you can afford to lose, though at the start with low levels this is artificially restricted by your level. With good players they are only going to win a bit over 50%. The numbers only have the potential to add up if you bet big, and you need to be sure of your win rate on that one. So to be honest if you stay small it will not tend to work out one way or the other too much. |
Chikish wanted to improve tavern skills (without stake)
Some tips:
1) learn all the cards in deck - and remember which was recently played / not played yet
2) For tourney golden cards is "recommended" +1 card in hand gives You much better options first of all at start
3) Different tavern places require different tacticts (but practice the standard one i.e. Great Capital match for tower 50), since tourney is played according that rules
4) keep an eye that your wall is higher then the opponent's if possible (many cards are based on if wall > then enemy wall....)
But in overall I do not recommend to play tourney without a lots of experience (my old Char was lvl15 in cards, but i have still an 55% win rate with new char) - win 6 games in a row is very challanging |
