Open letter to my friends

AuthorOpen letter to my friends
@Lord Syrian You have made your point :) I understand it, maybe not to the level of depth as people in A&D now or were in A&D. Jedi has made his point as well in the other thread. Can I please request you to consider closing this topic?

A clan is like a family. These accusations and retorts should be discussed in the clan chat or together in a group, not in public. All of you have spent a significant part of our life on this game. A&D has achieved a lot and I am sure all of you have played a huge part in its success. That effort and time deserve a better ending than this public display of arguments.

I have nothing but respect for both you guys and A&D. You guys have often benefitted me from your active participation in the forum since I joined the game. I am grateful to you all. I have no stake in this discussion (except as a com player, of course), but it saddens me a bit to see this. My clan is smaller than A&D and I feel the pain whenever any clan member leaves. On the other side of the equation, I can't even imagine the pain I will feel if forced to leave. My experience in EFL tells me that a clan is no different from a household. I am sure both sides hurt and I am empathetic towards both.

I hope you don't mind my request considering I am not involved. Sorry for hijacking the discussion.
I fully agree with the sentiments of shubhamgoyal's post (though would not ask you to close, simply for people to cease saying negative things) - this way it becomes clear that all have taken a decision to be peaceful in their communications, rather than in it being enforced.

I feel a level of responsibility for what has occurred as I started the thread that kicked this of, while I anticipated a level of discord, I think communicating it has meant it has got worse rather than better. In fact I think people generally acted as they should do in the first instance, and only came to a problem when voicing their reasons.

At first act I think no one did any "wrong" from either side - no one commented it was done with quiet dignity as it should have been. Let us consider it as if that was the last of the issue on these things and no further words were said, as frankly the more people say, whether in perceived defence or not, direct attack or passive aggressive retort - I am afraid I can only see it doing damage to peoples perceptions of yourselves rather than winning them to your side (though this is only my personal view). I see myself agreeing with some points on both sides, but do not think it matters - I see no glory in keyboard warriors - this is not the reason we got into this game

To me at root the situation is quite simple - there are only two sufficiently active and numerically significant English speaking military clans - these cannot cater for the diversity of preference for all the views of every English speaking player. When people feel strongly on a direction it will naturally make it feel more significant and heated, though in no way changes the inevitable situation that their is insufficient of us to maintain the variety within a purely English speaking clan. Consequently some people have to not have what they want for that clan. Naturally one would hope that this is agreed by the majority of its members - something more complex for A&D since it has a lot of floating players who come and go highlighting the variability of its makeup - those who decide at one period may very well not make up a majority 6 months later. To change the status quo would need a significant level of approval rather than a marginal one in my mind.

I think those that have left have made a wise decision to allow them to pursue the game in the way they want, though I am saddened that it has occurred now with an undercurrent of animosity - I hope this will dissipate quickly and all involved will be able to put it behind them
for Lord MilesTeg: I totally agree.

everyone's free to do as they wish. If you want to go fight war, go ahead. Many have done it in the past. But I don't recall anyone starting a forum topic explaining why he left a clan to do war battles. :)

I never spoke bad about anyone who left, never did, never will. In fact, I kept silent most of the time, keeping my opinion to myself. So please don't bring me, clan or its members into a negative light [especially if they are half-baked facts, accusations and downright lies], or I surely will respond.

For those who are doing/going to do war battles. Best of luck. Hope you all have many months and years of fun doing it. I sincerely mean it. :)

You made your choices. Game allows it, and I have absolutely no issues with it. Go for it. :)

I never made a single bad comment [unless you made one to me/clan/members first, and I responded] about any member who left.

Let's show a little respect to each other [not hard really] and move on, shall we? :)
Well of course :)
Well finally :D

No more wars now :)

The court session is over , both are innocent :)
well done guys. I'm glad its over too :)
Just my 2 cents. There used to be a top MC Titans. Where is it now?

I think wars got them but not sure.
Its not difficult to start a war...

Its not difficult to risk everything on a whim...

Even the most powerful don't (shouldn't) arbitrarily start wars, not even to go against the weakest. That always draws a risk. Of losing. Everything.

for Lord Syrian:

I posted a message in a OGF, not directed to anyone, not offending anyone, in response to message #28, and relevant to a specific subject discussed in this thread, which you started.

I would like to believe your direct advice to me was with good intent.

I sorrowfully realize though that it contains 1) a false presumption, 2) a demeaning and derogatory innuendo, 3) an unwarranted and illegitimate request.

I will not respond in kind. I still love you Syrian. Even though I killed you.
By the guillotine (remember?). Twice!...
This topic has nothing to do with warfare.
Post your thoughts were due.
I'm by no means saying they're invalid. Just in the wrong place.

Even though I killed you
Nice, young man, how's that working out for you?
This topic has nothing to do with warfare.

for Lord Syrian:

Funny you should say that.
The word 'war'/'warfare' appears 4 times in your first post.
Moreover, it shows up 38 times in the first page, and some 10 times in the second page. It hardly seems like the topic has nothing to do with warfare... And my thoughts seem posted pretty much in a relevant place.
Pretty stupid of a guy when he quotes himself, but...

It's hard to explain why I left after 7 years in a few words. So I'll resort to a simple way: go to A&D profile and read the "Clan Goals". My view is that we're nowhere living up to them - and some statements there, right now, are blatant lies - A&D is not "adapting", nor is it becoming "an integral part of the total LordsWM gaming experience". Contrary to what it says there, it is very contented with what it has achieved, and it has let up its "never-ending quest of progress and growth".
