The reason I think that is because of the increasing time left on resources sells. |

Three of us have tie up to post for same price. We were posting mostly for 30 mins.

Somebody posted a lot.
I also posted the lot.
my lot comes on top.
for the next 3-4 mins, my lot is always on top.
After some time his lost comes on top.
PS: No item sold between these reversals. |

The following cannot be true
* I think it's the person who posted it first. / On top will be the one posted first. (it is enough to look at the lot identifier)
* Maybe the first to post did it for 3 days, and the second for 2, and posted it 23 hours and 45 min after. (if you open the lots individually by their identifiers, Bheem's We were posting mostly for 30 mins. stands)
* maybe it's ordered by letters of the posters from A to Z when price is the same (they are the same three players in different orders)
The following has not been proven false

The randomness hypothesis must at least imply some cached randomness, since refreshing the page doesn't always change the order. I also believe, though I am not sure, that everyone sees the same order. Maybe someone can test this by observing the market with their main and alt accounts.
By comparing the last two pics, we notice that the order of the lots has changed after around 3 minutes. We know the lots are the same because they have the same identifiers.
Considering Bheem's latest post, I believe the order is based on a combination of factors that includes the current time interval in order to give everyone a fair chance of being first. |
my latest observation:
2 people posted the post 30 min each after that I posted.
I was given the last position.
Note: (Sometimes I get middle or even first. I also noticed that when I get the first position if any other guy post his lot he instead get the first place and my lot become second.
When I get the last potion and who ever post after me also get last position.
From this I observe that It is based on time.)
After that a guy posted his lot and he was given the last position and I was third.
After a few minutes when I checked the market again I saw that all the lost stood there and mine was at top! |

The first thing I did when I saw this topic was the search too, but couldn't find anything even related. It is neither documented nor discussed anywhere else.
Unless admins reveal the implementation details, we cannot really know what the order is really based on. |

There is more interest in this topic than I anticipated. :) I guess I should have mentioned that I tested the impact of the time and duration of the lot as well as player id and found nothing before I decided it was random.
I also believe, though I am not sure, that everyone sees the same order. Maybe someone can test this by observing the market with their main and alt accounts.

in past times, i did a few tests. As far as i noticed, if nothing differentiate loots, you will see:
first, the last loot posted at top if it was recent;
after a while, all loots would get shuffled and start moving around on the list.
Never measured time, but checking every 2-3 minutes, i'd see them switched one way up or down. |
