Is charmer elf lord considered that much more powerful than an elf lord?
When I choose Elf I can recruit 31 elite forest keepers, 25 elven bowmen, and 14 druids. When I choose Charmer Elf, I get 28 forest brethen, 22 elven bowmen, and 8 druids. So either 28 forest brethen are equivalent to 31 elite forest keepers + 3 elven bowmen + 6 druids, or charmer elf lords are so much stronger that they must be balanced out with much less troops? Does this seem like the right balance to you guys? |
It depends on the level. At lower levels classic elf is so much better than CE.
I think once you get sharp shooters CE is pretty good. Then again. CE is good only for PVP whereas classic is preferred for PVE and sometimes even PVP. |
| Yes, the charmer elf lord is that much more powerful than an elf lord, but charmer elf has superior troops as well (for PvP). Forest brethren, sharpshooters, and pristine unicorns, which are the most important elf units, are all significantly better than their classic counterparts. At first glance it does seem like charmer elves' recruit count is too low (and perhaps it's true for some levels) but for the most part it's fair. But I'm talking about PvP only - it's certainly not balanced in PvE where classic elf is almost always better or equally good. |
i dissagree with everyone, both CE and elf are powerful. i dont see one being more so then the other. it just depends on your fighting style.
and in PVP, elf is just as deadly as charmer. perhaps more so |
when 1st introduced, all alt factions come with significant overpower. my guess to create an incentive to build that faction (hence some donations) after a month or so, they start updating to balance it down. in charmers case, more than once that alt faction powered down cause it was hugely OP at start :d
at the moment, for lvl 14+, charmer and classic do not have much power difference barring some specific cases. i.e. after clone possible, classic elf rules so many hunt types (not just charmer, except holy knight and arguably wizard, best faction for those hunts)
and in PVP, elf is just as deadly as charmer. perhaps more so
thats also dependant on case. say we are in a mixed CG 14-16 each side. if Im lvl 16, I would rather be classic. if 14, charmer. |
I think you guys are talking about a different thing. I'm not comparing the two factions, in spite of my thread title. I'm talking about the lords/heroes.
I think Dragon Eater addressed it properly. Charmer elf lord seems more powerful, so admins balance that out by giving them less troops.
I'm not sure they do it right for CL 7 though. If I didn't have tier-2 diamond upgrade, (I'm sure many CL 7 players don't), in terms of troop, charmer elf gets 3 less forest keepers, 3 less elven bowmen, and 6 less druids. I just can't see how the power of the hero can compensate for that huge troop reduction, at least in PvE. Did anyone find hunting or doing WG battles as charmer elf on CL 7 easier than as elf? |
In PvE, classic elf is better in 99% of situations. Not because of troop count but summon phantom magic, which you will unlock.
I prefer charmer for some WG, but our CL and FSL are so different it's probably not a fair comparison. |

well, its a work in progress. balancing mostly done tru event success data for each faction / alts. but as combat level goes lower, that data also becomes less trustworthy, since player ability can be a major effect ( many high levels have 2.nd 3rd chars, also there are some notorious roulette junkies who likes to repeat around 1-10)
as I feel from your posts, you are a bright guy, probably mature ( 21+) for online games. may I suggest following :
dont bother about tiny details till reach lvl 14 ( where the real game starts) most lvl 7 specific questions are hard to answer for experienced players since its long past.
if a lvl 10 giving his advice to your post, chances are, its at best 50-50 correct ;) |
Charmer is stronger because troops speed is superior. High ini and high speed means you are almost guaranteed first hit with free lightning on top. Classic elf hit even harder but might not have the ability to get 1st hit.
Personnaly I have more troubles against classic elf but a charmer also comes with strong features and can knock an opponent down in a glance. |

That is because you are barely level 7. Charmer hero is a lot more powerful because of free casts he gets. As a level 7, you only have magic arrow and spikes. At level 8, with MG 2 you will unlock ice cold and Lighting, giving you a huge power spike. |
