It seems a bit silly to separate out a "surcharge". We only care about the total cost. And then just say that today you get 29% off.

Its not silly. The cost per battle is fixed for these arts, and the 40% surcharge is indicative of what you are going to have to pay over the cpb if you lease from artifact shop. Its a valuable disclaimer for people who are broke and players at lower levels who might need to gear up quickly via renting. |

Knowing something doesn't make it relevant. This information is useless. If I have to pay 1K instead of 1.4K, I don't care one bit what you call that discount. All I care is that I get a discount of 400 gold. And instead of giving it a name that is meaningless to me, I rather know what the amount is, to save myself the trouble of asking in the first place.
Besides, "cost per battle" can be whatever the owner decides to charge. |

cost per battle is not determined by the person leasing. That would only be the case if we had scarcity of such arts in stock or if we were talking about actual rare items.
You can calculate the actual cpb for shop arts easily by taking the checking the cost of arts from shop/facility then dividing by durability. But this wouldn't always be checked by newer players or other players because its tedious, that's why the note about surcharge makes sense for leasing shop. |
