Combat Readiness

AuthorCombat Readiness
I don't understand the formula for combat readiness. It says

Damage increase rate: 1%*[Barbarian skill level] per creature turn.

So suppose my fsl is 3 and I wait or defend one of my stacks, then will they get +3% damage on their next turn?
they get +3% damage on their nextattack. and its stack till the next attack with caps of 50% increase
I don't know how well it works in actual combats, but it sounds like a horrible ability. You forgo one attack just to get a tiny increase in your next attack?
for Omar Contreras:
This ability growth % depends on FSL
This ability growth % depends on FSL

You mean more than the ONE PERCENT per level as stated in the formula? Are you talking about something else that's not so obvious?
It can work fairly okay actually, not all your troops get to attack their first turn, for example behe may need 2 moves to get to enemy. Also decent if you want to wait with a troop to take retal.

That said, most of the time it's useless.
This ability is only useful for hobgoblins hiding behind during initial turns, and main stack of ogres.
For rest this ability is pretty useless for other troops.

On some cases its good, for example you wait from hobos 3 times before attacking and have fsl 10, which means hob will strike with 30% extra damage on its turn.

So even if a stack is walking from 1 tile to another, it will add up damage??

Yes, moving/waiting/defending or simply all non-attack move counts
Is the bonus applied on retal? If so, is it discharged (i.e. reset) on retal?

Yes :)
Its not really useful unless we are talking about PvE.. even with hobs.

The common scenario in battle is that people will take retal from hobs before attacking if they cannot kill even half stack anyway.. most wouldnt let a full stack of hobs hit their cores. And when you are against rushers, there is no time to accrue combat readiness bonus tbh. You have to go! attack before getting destroyed!
Its a bit counter-intuitive.
Barbarians are supposed to be an offensive/aggressive race. So i guess offensive actions should be rewarded instead of passive actions.
Like Tribal Spirit does for fury and shadow barbarians as well as Tribals
Truly yes, i agree. It doesn't make much sense that a barbarian would wait/ or not attack his enemies... I had the same complain about this ability when it was introduced in exchange for magic proof which i admit was very unfair to wizards/chaosers. Anyhow, they could make barbarian resist debuffs instead of chaos so barbarian could attack unhindered to an extent. That would make it really cool class to play.

Said it several times throughout the years but i dont know if anyone cares.

Well that post made me realize why I keep losing in the quick tournaments. Classic barb is useless.
