Careful aim - Feature or bug?

AuthorCareful aim - Feature or bug?
Allied troops next to this creature do not take damage from through shot ability.

Battlemagi deal 38 damage to Grotesques. 2 perish.
Battlemagi deal 0 damage to Sphynx guardians.

Battlemagi didn't do damage to enemy Sphynx, that we standing next to enemy battlemagi.
While description agrees, I don't think this is the intended meaning of "careful aim".

On a side note,
ArtemVladimirovich deals 434 damage to Lodestone golems with the Lightning spell. 16 perish.
Shouldn't Lodestem golems have healed now due to loadcoated? I think I misunderstand what this ability does then.
Yes, careful aim has been like this for a long time so I'm inclined to think that it's not a bug.

As for lodestone golems' ability, there was a balancing update:

5. Changed the ability to "Enchanted Armor" in Magnetic Golems - now they take damage from enemy magic, but still do not get damage from the magic of the Allies;

I'd thought bug because careful aim, by it's name, suggests its the magi shooting carefully, rather than creating a careful aura around them.
It'd be great ability description of lodecoated was changed. It's not great to find out these things mid fight.

It's absolutely not a bug. This is another case where they use a different name from the same ability (dampen magic) in the PC game (copyright issue, maybe?), but keep all of its effects. The ability is supposed to protect a battlemagi's adjacent allies from all battlemagi. If you read the ability's description, it is correct: "Allied troops adjacent to this creature do not take damage from the 'Through shot' ability". It doesn't say the 'Through shot' ability must be from the creature itself.

When in doubt, read an ability's description, instead of inferring things from the ability's name. I agree that "careful aim" is a horrible name. Whoever came up with it originally must not have understood the ability fully. I have tried to get the Translation team to fix this, but don't hold your breath.

Please explain how the ability description for lodestone golems tells you that they take damage from enemy magic, but still do not get damage from the magic of the Allies
?

I did not know that there was different treatment for spell damage from ally vs enemy.
for virtual_vitrea:

You did at one point. :P See posts 3 and 7 of the thread I linked :D
for Dragon Eater:

First, you are right i read that. But the main thing i was interested in was UN (that was a huge change at the time), the so called "magnetic golems" did not entirely register in my memory.

However, the one place where ability matters is in battle, and you are going to use the ability descriptions if you are unsure about something and trust them to be accurate. Can't imagine going to go look for changes on forum mid battle to understand the unexpected interactions or crosscheck whatever changes were mentioned. I find it to be an issue that they made the changes to the mechanical aspects and reported them but did not bother to fix the ability description.

In my defense i would argue that its easy to forget about that one line in a post, terribly overshadowed by UN changes, and the change itself concerning a unit i myself never played before/rare encountered, and if you take into consideration that we are talking about an ability that still tells you that golems get resurrected for half of the spell damage, i hope you get my point :)
Oh absolutely, I didn't mean to imply that an announcement of some ability change is sufficient notice - it's not. The description should definitely be updated so that it's not misleading in battle.

That clears it. Thanks.
