| You can't. Your main option is to kill the unit casting firewall etc. before it can cast. |

Most AI in vanguards have 0 speed, so by default they can only wait or defend. (They should probably defend in firewalls/storms though, I agree.)
Shrews are an exception because they have no retaliation + hit and return. You have to make sure that they're in range of a unit before allowing them to leave their default position though. |
