Some noobie questions

AuthorSome noobie questions
Hi! Just started the game today and I'm trying to figure things out. I would appreciate if anyone is willing to give some pointers. I followed the tutorial and just reached level 3. Everything was a breeze so far (hunts, duels, campaign, I was able to join the watchers' guild now) but I do have a few questions:
- I was able to build Blooming grove, Treetop shack, and Avengers' guild with the rewards I got, but I cannot afford Charmed forest and marketplace. I need wood to buy the marketplace but I only see it available on the marketplace. Is there another place to get wood (besides level-up and campaign rewards?
- Charmed forest costs a lot of gold. Is that supposed to be built later or am I missing something? I did work a couple of times in production but the rewards are peanuts compared to the building cost.
- I got an armament and a 1% license when I finished the campaing, but I have no idea what that is or where they went. What do I do with them?

I admit I am still reading through the help section but so far I haven't found the answers to my questions so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
1) most common way to get wood from map is in empire capital https://www.lordswm.com/object-info.php?id=4
2)charmed forest is an upgrade for faeries a good unit strong with no retail (all upgraded buildings cost more money that building the starting unit if u notice in the castle thats why u have an alternate cost of building with diamonds if u are planing to stick with elve its a good invest to build at 5 lv
3) my suggest is selling thoose licences coampared to the place of the map u get
any other questions feel free to PM
Thanks for helping! I cannot send messages yet I'm afraid. I got the wood and built the marketplace. I also found armaments page in my castle, I guess these are direct bonuses for my troops?

So, charmed forest can wait until level 5. How do I sell the licence? I have no idea where to find it, it is not in my inventory or castle as far as I can tell.

Sorry, I'm a bit overwhelmed :)
armaments are distributed automatically at the combat battle and last for 30 days after that u can repair them for 500+ gold each

yes upgrades are better to be done at their lv suggestion
u can search the licence when u want to sell on the market u will find it at the botoom of the scroll menu when listing an item
lordswm.com/auction.php?cat=cert&sort=0

You can check what location license you have and corresponding price.

Then you can post it on market
Left panel -> post a lot-> select item-> Amount (Number of items)-> Then price for which you want to sell -> Fixed lot -> Select Time and post
Welcome.

Yes the armaments are direct bonuses. They also give visual flair to your troops. Each one lasts for a month and gets refreshed if you "find" them again through combat. But you can also pay for them to be repaired.

If you go to the market you can "post a lot." There, in the options of things to sell, you will find the license at the bottom of the list.
Thanks everyone! I was finally able to find the license in the marketplace lot dialogue. It seems it will cover the price of Charmed forest - as far as I can tell it is supposed to be built on level 3. So far so good! I will explore around a bit now. Thanks again!
Make a habit of enrolling to secure a steady income
Is that supposed to be the main source of income? You can only do it once per hour, so a couple of times per day. On the other hand each hunt gives more gold and you can do 10 in an hour easily.
At some point you will be "stuck" in hunts - the difficulty increases each time you win. The main source of gold is not using artifacts ever, later you are forced to, so choosing the most efficient ones (There are many sources which calculate CPB - cost per battle for each artifact).
At start you will earn money by

enrolling (later with levels in laborer guild you gain more money per one enroll)
hunts
mercenary guild quests
selling all artifacts you find in hunts
you will probably wwant to sell all elemntents found in mercenary guild quests (those are ingredients for enchanting weapons)

So ther is one aspect of the game - think about every 1 gold coin spent.
The other is NOT gaining exp.

You want all those weird points the best for your combat level (faction skill points, guild points etc.) So you want to gain as low amount of EXP compared to other level ups as possible.
I personally would recommmend doing exactly nothing but hunts until level 5 (at level 5 you are forced to use artifacts (they have durability). So you will bleed money on all those easy hunts if you wont do it before.
Thanks for your advice, but I'm already almost level 6 :) I played around a bit, a lot of hunts but also the tournament, leader's guild, campaigns, and watchers' guild which is very fun but unfortunately also very limited.

I also tried the "Smugglers" game (rotating game-mode if I understand correctly?) but I have mixed feelings about it. The pet golem was interesting, but the difficulty went from super easy to impossible in a second. Suddenly the enemies are 15 levels higher than me and my troops are useless, so I'm not sure what that is about.

I don't have money problems so far but I do sell most of the stuff I find along the way. I'm not sure I completely get your comment about exp, isn't it required to unlock all game feautures? Either way, I think I'll play around a bit more first before looking into min-maxing.
Not having money problems - that's what i am trying to warn you about :) Its a trap! Game is constructed that way you think you have enough money, you don't. When you enter new level suddenly buildings and new artifacts will cost you more that you accumulated. Not to mention at some point you probably will want to play as different faction. Just do whatever you can in min arts and you should be fine. (hunts, mercenary guild, thieves guild)

EXP - not much to worry just general warning as it is counterintuitive that gaining EXP can hurt you. Just keep in mind that you want as low amount of EXP as possible, and as high amount of every other points as possible and have fun :) So if you encounter some event or other activity that is granting a LOT of EXP in comparison to faction skill points you will know to avoid that.
I also tried the "Smugglers" game (rotating game-mode if I understand correctly?) but I have mixed feelings about it. Events are usually quite hard, especially for newer players. The way to do them is getting a strong character relative to your level (like Vitzyas was saying) but, more importantly, to think and plan carefully. Familiarity helps too. But if you're like me and just play willy nilly then the events will always be hard.
Also you probably will need good arts to get fll experience from events. So gold problem again, the CPB in full good arts is always high. (for exmple sun/cold set costs about 100k per one artifact)

About golem event also info is bad. Did you know that for example if u do nothing but waiting whole battle with golem his initiative will grow? Later he is your main unit. For example commonway of going shooter build is doing nothing but waiting first 10 battles, then defend 5 battles, then only shooting. I recommend joining a caln to have a good info, for me it was also new as i am returning player after 10 years - in my clan it was mail explaining all that at the event start.
Either way, I think I'll play around a bit more first before looking into min-maxing.

I think this is the way if you want to have fun. There are catch-up mechanics built-in later too that you can take advantage of.
Thanks to everyone offering advice, quite a lot to take in. I guess I will decide later if this strange experience thing will turn me off from the game, but so far I'm enjoying it.

I have to ask though: can this game be played for 1-2 hours each evening and be reasonably competitive? Or does it require more time or constant presence for this enrolling thing?
You should enroll as often as possible. It's just 2 clicks and you don't have to stay present in the game. You'll definitely need the money sooner or later.
Else 1-2 hours is more than enough.
Enroll as often as you can, do Watchers' Guild and Leader Guild' quests/combats when available.

You can also rush Hunters' Guild and Mercenaries' Guild combats during Day of Hunter/Falcon/Mercenaries, but it doesn't really matter as long as you are earning any guild point in each combat, which leads to more stats, which leads to stronger characters. Table for reference: https://www.lordswm.com/about-game-experience-tables

Try not to do any duels or group battles if you like PvP. If you want to do PvP, go for Commanders' Guild.

Oh, and play events as well, they give decent exp/fsp and guild points. Don't have to tryhard, just play comfortably. Would recommend joining a clan for access to artifact depository or discord channels for guidance.
the experience advice would have been sound previous to the new exp formulas the admins implemented about 3 months ago. now you dont have to worry about exp as if you min-max your character like a lot of people my level did before the changes they ended up getting heavy punishments in the form of 3-8x the exp for every combat. so if they normally get 10000 exp for a certain fight the would be getting like 80000 after the changes.

this was implemented because people were getting their guilds up to such high levels compared to others it basically made them impossible to beat in pvp(commanders guild)

my character is very strong for level 18 statwise and antibelt but i was still about 8 stats behind some of the top players. if i encountered them it was very very likely that i would lose to them in commanders guild. same for others vs me if they had huge stat deficit vs me.
ENROLL - remmeber you can use your phone, like on the tram or in office
PVP - yeah commander's guild is the way. Also remember that twice a day there are neat pvp combats there where your guilds and fsp does not matter - the game automatically evens it out for everyone.

This is quote from game info:
Equal battles for everyone - regardless of leveling up!
In enlisting from 12:20 to 12:30 in the afternoon, as well as from 20:20 to 20:30 in the evening, special conditions apply - for all participants automatically the effects of Potion of guilds and Potion of skill are activated.

Also if you gonna pay $ use it for those P2W creature upgrades buildings so you can get it a level earlier, if you are not gonna pay $ - pvp only on even levels. Both ways work well.

Also check artifact shop, category "other". There is a thing called Abu-Bakir's Charm. Long story short it removes most of those annoyements in the game which were designed to annoy you enough to pay $. (freemium model was designed in the depths of Hell). I personally buy it for 50 000 gold per month, but probably on low level it is too much. Also it is more efficient the more time you spend daily in the game.
