What are people using nowadays to set up gear? Im trying to get the cheapest 33-AP gear to participate in the event.

There's a huge chance for cheapest set to cost you more due to loses in the long run.
Events are not usually the place to go cheap. |

The words of Calamity are carved in stone. I paid dearly for my mistakes. Don't use minimum AP in events. I use minimum AP in TG and HG.

Strongly disagree. If you're going to grind every battle, you can typically go quite far with cheap arts.
You can switch to more expensive arts once you lose one or two. |
| I'm with Another player, I almost always do the first half or so of an event in cheaper arts, and yes I may lose a couple more battles early on when I realise I need to up my AP, but overall that is when I am potentially saving several hundred gold per battle. I also tend to post whether they are doable for my level in low arts and when I needed to switch, to better arts, so that anyone else can have the savings, with even lower risk. The ease or not of this also depends upon how good your character is. If you have decent stats, then you can probably maintain more battles in lower gear. For me that is part of the fun of events, I know the early battles will be easy as they are designed that way. If I do them in full arts they would be easy and boring, you could probably auto them with a mirror. Doing them when you have to actually think a bit to win, much more enjoyable, with the added bonus of saving gold (even if you don't really need to!) |

Usually every single event is super easy in the beginning. If you play with min AP, you can make decent profit.
Current event example, I have cleared level 30*2 = 60 battles at 715 gold per battle for 55 AP. See the difference to someone who played full AP at 1500 gold per battle.
When event gets difficult you can switch to full AP.
Ps: I only have 3 defeats in event so far.
