AuthorThe Portal of Time
If this is posted in the wrong forum, or mislabelled or any of the like - Im sorry! I read the rules as best as I could.

Hello.
Im newly back to the game and as such havent really played for many years.
I remember Portal of Time from way back then, but I fear Im at a huge disadvantage when it comes to picking the right team, when to level what up etc.
I could ofc. do trial and error, but as I reckon many on this platform has done their fair share of "trial and error", I figured I could borrow some experience from you wise people.

So my question is - is there any kind people on this forum that have any suggestions as to how to approach this event, or atleast some hints as to what NOT to do?

Also Im sorry if there is a similar topic somewhere. I tried my best finding it, but I failed.

Thanks in advance!
Hi. Welcome back to the game.

Usually, this event is best done with some reliable partner—someone with whom you can strategize. Your and your partner's troop should have some synergy.

Here's my rule of thumb:
1. Avoid troops from different factions, since their morales will decrease.
2. Have one caster that buffs your strongest troop (or debuffs opponents' troops).

In terms of troops, I usually go with necros and barbs.Skeletons, ghouls, infected zombies, and zombies are meaty. I try to place ghouls in the middle to debuff many troops.

Barbs work well with wolf riders, goblin shamans, and high stacks of goblins.
Followup question: what is the advantage/disadvantage by resetting ones troops? and what does "disband" mean in this setting?
If I disband a troop, do I get the Crystal of Time back I spent on them?
Do I have endless "resets" of Parameters/Upgrades/Army? or is that a one time thing? or does it have a higher price the more often you use it?

My question is simple really - am I able to put together a completely new team for each fight through resets, or do I stick with the team I start with, to not waste Crystal of Time?
Disband simply means converting your troops back to crystals. You don't lose crystals in this process, so you can disband and add troops as many times as you want.

You should adjust your team depending on your enemy.

There is a penalty with more stacks of the same kind. For instance, the first 100 skeletons cost 10, whereas the next 100 costs 14 (unsure of the exact number).
Just invested in the union building and looking in to tier 4/5 units. Anyone have any recommendations?
Anyone thats a must/anyone thats genuinly terrible? Griffins seems good
What are best team combinations for noob players? :p
I am doing combination of faeries, sprites & dryads for now, barb/necro strategy better?
Alright, since I have played some matches now.. if my observations help others:

1. Barb is good for teams with buildings, 2/3 strikes are good for high HP buildings.
2. All Griffins + Crusader + Brute -> crystals invested equally help clear most stages
3. Vampire/Vamprire Lords are also good when they can drain from opponents
4. Spire/Dryads/Faeries + forest brethen -> All points equal among all, helped me quite a lot in early matches
5. Cerbie and other upgrade are very good when you want to reach front line early, especially against large creature who can shoot.
Theres also a few stages in the 30s where Ive found crossbowmen with mage guild 1 bless works really well.

Griffin, wolfhounds, wolf riders/raiders, goblins/hobgoblins and imps - is my current team.
Ive also enjoyed having a small stack of 3-9 goblin warlocks, to delay and curse any giga stacks. Theres situations where 60-80% of the enemy team is in one stack. Really handy to have that one stack delayed and cursed, while you take out the rest of the team.

Hyena riders are also solid against these mega stacks as they do "Infecting strike"
Just be aware of the lack of space if you run around with 3x big creatures :p
any other way to deal with high HP buildings? I got one with over 17K HP along with enemy lord.
Cyclops upgrade 'besieze' would be good strategy? or any other such option?
yes, seize elephants of pharoh is great against buildings
for stages 40+, luck and attack is too much.
I found going ranged, with anubis warrior, titan & stormcaller with some guardians in between them for damage decrease is helpful
Interesting approach with the ranged. Mainly we have been sticking to big stacks of powerful melee units like wolf riders(and raiders), unicorns, wolfhounds and griffins. Hell Horses and Nightmares are also solid, but griffins and unicorns is a "must" to me, so I had to sack my wolf riders.

High Druids or just Druids are really solid for the cheap stoneskin on your huge melee stacks.

Personally I havent had many issues with the HP buildings. They crumble against wolf riders and wolf raiders. Generally you nuke them the first 2 rounds, or you leave them till last.
Killing what they spawn, isnt a huge issue while you deal with the rest, and then you have the 17k dmg to deal last.

I havent used magic guild for much yet. Only the fire lvls with big fire dmg to melee attackers, where I used crossbown/wardem with magic guild 1 and bless - worked quite nicely, although those waves also tend to have the water elemental magic casters, that quickly can wreck such a stack.

If I decide to unlock tier 6 and use creatures from there - then Cyclop Kings could be a good option for me, as Id be able to use Hellhorses, Unicorns and Griffins still (cant use 4 big units as I run out of space).
Dark Witches would also be a good shout.

IF I had to replace one of my big units, I'd likely put in Assault Elephants. Their Midget Killer ability, seems like a really good thing to have in certain fights. Only downside is that its very slow compared to the Hellhorses/Unicorns/Griffin.

Personally I think Im going to stick to hell horses vs the assault elephants. I can get 40 hell horses for the price of 20 assault elephants, and since unicorns/griffins already have a high-ish initiative, then I think its a better synergy that I stick with hell horses over the slow assault elephants.

Im guessing Titan, Stormcaller and Anubis warrior is only for those of higher lvl. My character is only lvl 8, so I dont have the option to get those.
And with that in mind - maybe your team area is bigger so you can run with 4 large units, and as such most of my rambling here, is pointless.
Oh and for context - Im currently about to fight 46 on hard.
Even I don't have T7, but in the event I can unlock T7 units. I believe you might be able to do.

Team area is same only, 3 large creatures and then a guardian/skel legionnaire for shield allies ability.
just play double or triple vamps with buffs/debuffs and event is super easy.
any strategy for undead opponents? vampire can't heal from them and they doesn't take much physical/ranged damage.
PS: I am barb main, so don't have good equips for magic build
oh if you still on undead levels then t1 units like farmers recruits brutes tribal goblins in defence build and with magic guild 1. Gives 40% rapid and 40% delay which is just insanely OP
Yea Ive seen the vampries be very succesful, but I feel like they are better for higher lvl players that can gather more stats. I currently have 20 attack and 18 defence (my character is lvl 8). If I were to go vampires, I fear they would just crumble against certain enemies.

And no I cant unlock t7 units sadly. Only t6, so I guess thats a character level difference.
Vampires are great against opponents with much worse stats, since you can drain tons of health from enemy's troop.

Dragons, cyclops, and dreadbanes are very good for later levels.
