So get more ini to make sure invokers and bears can use hydra rune before they die

its pointless trying to discuss that the new AI is not unfair...bears can't use hydra rune since they can't reach the enemy...i say again,pve should be like playing against the computer not against real player.
I think it's fine if they want the AI to be like a real person, but then it should also have the same ammount of units as a real person. Otherwise it becomes nothing but a deadend since they also have maxed out stats, even their heros have initiative 11.
So unless you are an elf with nothing but high initiative units, it's best to stop playing thiefs guild, as a necro which has low initiative units to begin with I stopped playing it, as if the high ammount of units is not enough they seem to get tons of morale outbursts as well even when their hero happens to have just morale of 1.
The way it is going, soon one can only do thiefs guild with max AP on, and even then it will be 50-50. And since that will be very costly, one will need to enroll all day long just to be able to play one ambush. Even most hunts have become undoable now, the way they keep out of range of your units now.
I guess the game is becoming an elfs game since you need high initiative, luck and morale just to be able to play.
DarkDemon, 60% thief win ratio with medium AP. Didn't even change my old strategies.

@Derelict: Demons like elfs also have high initiative units, so basically you are proving my point.
So what it comes down to is: With the new system thiefs guild has become playable only for the high initiative units factions, the rest will need max AP and even then it will be around 50-50. I guess we'll see only elf/demon ambushes from now on.
The new event alecs challenge seems to be to test AI out. Right now the results are 54% wins and 46% losses, and that is with max AP which is uncanny close to my mentioned 50-50.
would 50-50 not be what a the admins want? Imagine AI and recruit balance get as good as possible, and it really feels like playing on an even field, meaning even troops and even equip (max ap).

Now you stop grinding PvE to farm exp and fsp, but you get challenged in every battle to think and improve your strategies.
Is it fun for you (the playerbase in general) to win only because you know how to exploit the AI? What about that feeling to outplay your opponent and make smarter moves?

Maybe the AI improvement should just lead to increased rewards. If you can only win thieves guild in max ap, just scale up the gold reward to ca. 1500 (randomly picked number) to encourage players to do so. I agree that with the current gold reward tg feels lackluster at times.

And we had always faction which were better at thieving than others. There is no point to complain when they suddenly changed and your favourite is not one of them anymore.

lol@whoever said that darkdemons have high ini? Nightmares with initiative of 16, cerberis and spawns with initiative of 13 etc while necros highest is initiative 11, yeah keep laughing, it's what people do that can't make any sense.
And no progress in 180 posts? What we are doing here is called a discussion, either learn what that is or at least try respecting it.

@eConquest, you talk about even troops but there isn't any. There is no strategy when the opponent has triple-four times the size of your army. The only thing that counts then is nothing but speed, luck and morale. And yes, there have always been favorite factions for thieving, my argument was and is not about that. Do read again. With the current system it has become only playable if you are of a faction with high initiative units with lots of luck and morale. The other factions will need max AP and even still then it will be 50-50. Elfs and demons can get that with minimum AP, so all thievers will result to these factions instead due to it becoming too costly otherwise.

yes they are, initiative is now very impotent for TG, necro is not fast so they face trouble with double - triple size AI army

The other factions will need max AP and even still then it will be 50-50. Elfs and demons can get that with minimum AP well can you give an elf thief who doing mini ap thieving with at least 45% win ratio..
once craven upg with talent, only 1 faction use mini ap thieving, that is fsl9 Dwarf, DD , DE and demon need minimum 30-33AP, being elf you need 33-38AP for a decent 50%+ win

So far I think the AI change is interesting. It seems Admins have made multiple updates to the AI over the last few weeks. In the few Alec battles Ive done I found the troop numbers to be reasonable and the AI much less stupid. Its been fun. I tried a few battles to test it out and now I think Ill probably do all the battles.

yes knights should be happy because they are less targeted in dual hunting.
one thing was sure, admin won't put necro faction into trouble, at least they get less number of AI enemy's or they have less targeted in dual TG.
let us wait and see what comes after this event :P

Im still surpised you keep seeing everything one sided.

But I agree, DDemon doens't need a lot of tactics in ambush. Just cast and be done with the caravan. Especially as the new AI waits a few turns before they attack you.

I'm a knight like 70% of the time and for knight the new AI improvements is a lot better as Xbow for the first time ever can survive a whole ambush. Then on the other hand for dwarfs it becomes really hard.

Imagine losing 140 guards in the first turns (thats what dwarfs have with invokers and bears being targeted over 20 pats or 60 berser with 0 def).

Admins are trying to "upgrade" AI but are facing a lot of problems for several other factions. As PI said, for Necro double ambush is a nightmare. I'm sure this was not intent to be and this event might give them a new vieuw on what they can change.

You simply can't upgrade something and expect it to be the same for all 9 factions. Its a lot of puzzling for them also to make the new AI equal for every faction.
AI is now utilizing Dragonic Breath wisely to kill our troops :P
Yeah, I noticed this also in the defenders event when I play as dwarf. If I'm not careful, they move between my dragon and another stack and sacrifice themselves to hurt me :s.

On the other hand, on multiple occasions their cerberi could have hit multiple targets, but chose to only hit one.

What is so weird about that combat Atheros.
It has been there for a while now, even before this AI change it was happening.

If AI shooters are not able to shoot, they just try to hit in melee anything which is close to them, if any weakest is not nearby.
