AuthorOk time to understand: wizards and neutrals
Ive noticed mamy times that wizards heroes in hunts or mercs quests deals something like 200 damage with magic arrow.
When i ask to wizards they never reply, just one told me that is like this but it is not written nowhere.
So it like having a second hidden racial ability.
Depite the fact that i found this highly unfair, i would like to see it written somewhere because as for now smells to much like a bug in the game.
They already have mini-arts, it should be more than sufficient.
mini arts cost a TON of money, and besides what u said only happens in hunts, the additional magic damage don't work in duels etc.
Its because each faction wizard skill increase magic damage on neutrals
In hunts and quests wizards deal such damage with spells:

Damage from targeting spells = normal damage * (2 + wizard faction level) / 2;
Damage from area spells = normal damage * (area of the spell + wizard faction level) / area of the spell.

area of the spell - number of stacks that COULD be hit with the spell, for example - for stone spikes area of the spell=5

wizards don't have a great amount of "meat" as knights
wizards can't resurrect as necros because 2 units can't be resurrected at all
2 wizard's units don't have moral
wizards aren't cheaters as elfs
wizards don't have units withou retaliation as dark elfs and demons
wizard's units can't deal a lot of damage..
so increase of damage in hunts and quest is like compensation.. if this bonus dissapeares, wizarda will be bad in hunts and quests
and normal mini-artifacts (triple) cost VERY much.. full complect cost more then 1 million
So in fact Wizards have 2 racial abilities. Even if one is costly. But both of them are useful and good.
I will gladly change my sucky Piercing Magic for just one random of yours....

I hope this magic damage on neutrals of yours will disappear with the new talent system, it is highly unfair. You cant have 2 racials skills and talents.
And other races only talents and zero racials (Barbarians, DE mainly).
Yeah well magis somewhat sucks in duels always, magis just die before they actually cast, so yes i guess your kinda true, you need to be pushed up somehow. But i dont think thats a good way anyway, you still suck in group battles. Maybe you should get slightly more talents points instead of other races....dunno.
But just giving a flat uber damage against neutral seems just a thing given out to quickly just to give a litte prize.

Still youre lucky because, even if expensive, you have a worthed racial ability.....

there is some mistaking

1) not in all quests wizards deal duble damage, only in thous there is no hero
2) wizards have a lot of meat
3) wizards aren't cheaters as elfs, no they dont, they are bigger chiters, becouse miniarts + good magic + unbeatble upgrated gargoils and they become unstapuble, after level 8 they are much overpowered
4) and dont forget what miniarts dont broke like arts, yes it is hard to get them but at the end they are cheeper then arts

in any case wizard was poor hunters at low levels, even barbarian was beter hunters then they so it is why they get this bonus

1. In what quests of mercenary guild are heroes?
2. on 1-2 levels yes.. but then most races receive units with big hp or with big damage
3. after 8 level... to become good wizards need to spend more then 1 million on mini-artifacts!
4. mini-artifacts don't increase heroes parametrs and, if I remember correctly, don't increase amount of skillpoints and experience received in battles
i find so boring these threads where ppl simply ask to "downgrade" abilities of other classes.... :(
Divina:

look at it this way...we have mini arts which are very expensive, but still your faction's units are better:

Garo. - our tier 2 unit - 15hp, 1-1 damage
Golems - our tier 3 unit - 18 hp, 3-5 dam

Rogues - your tier 2 - 16 hp, 5-7 dam
Minotaurs - your tier 3 - 31 hp, 4-7 dam

oh I wonder who's overpowered now?
can mini arts give +4-6 damage? 13 hp?

How about you compare the number of troops for Wis and DE?
Wizards have a bright future: at level 8, they get mechanized golems with unlimited retaliation... and they still have master gremlins to repair on top of that.

But road to level 8 is long for sure.
10:
lvl3 number of troops

26 gargs vs 13 rogues => twice as many troops
16 golems vs 10 minos => 1.6 as many troops

garo - tier 2 units 15hp, 1-1 damage * 26 = 390hp 26damage
rogues - tier 2 units 16hp 5-7 damage * 13 = 208hp 78 avg damage

golems - teir 3 - 18hp, 3-5 damage * 16 = 288 hp 64 avg damage
minotaurs - teir 3 - 31hp 4-7 damage *10 = 310 hp 55 damage

i mean i don't really see a big difference except rogues doing a lot more damage. Also both garo and golems have higher defence so that makes it even harder to damage them.

Aravil: If anything the artifact effect could be doubled or something in hunts (like always favored enemy for elves)if needed but double damage for spells just seems kinda out of place for wizards. Besides you have 2 ranged units in lower levels, the job of the garg and golems is to protect these ranged units while they kill in the hunts they are not supposed to be your damage dealers. Also DE and Barbs rarely get to use their racial bonuses in hunts.. so why don't they have any special hidden boosts?

gremlins have VERY low damage. and mages can hit our own units

barbs have stunning blow it's very good
and DE on 8 level receives shrews.. no comments..

to players, who didn't play on .rus:
YOU haven't seen WHAT is it for wizards to hunt without bonus to spells.. you don't know this..

You mean DE and barbs have racial skills??? wow... that really really new:)
hmmm...firts of all....lvl up a mage is pain on the...so maybe next year whn I do become 8th lvl and have upgraded my troops somewhat AND have some mini artifacts as its like few billions to get decent upgrade, etc...plz can mage class shine and be overpowered as i have noticed, people complain A LOT at classes once they have problems defeating it.

To me it seems each class gets it advantages as it lvls and gets new troops. from lvl 1 to 3 was more or a less peace of cake. Few losses, but suddenly...woaha, none of tactics works and i can win duel if my opponents rush in for the kill. but on lvl 4 most have got hang of the game now. So mages from lvl 3-4 SUCK!!! I hope it gets easier on lvl 5, but I hear gold is the key and that people always miss and i can only play for hour or two per day these last few days.

So if mage indeed is overpowered at lvl 8, it deserves, as each class at particular lvl shows signs of suckiness and "uh I somehow kick ass and i even dont have to use tactics!".
on lv 8 wizard and elfs can raise this totally unfair this spell must be a racial skill for necroes only like avengers guild and reducing magic damage ability for barb
its spell Romiah, mages want to know all spells, it what they do...

what is unfair is rediculous low initiative mages troops have...by time my troops get to have action their numbers have been reduced to half...
no retaliation on dark elf? that is like lvl 8 combat lvl...far far far away
