I don't know if it will help, but you may check my combat log for some information.

Time to make a revival.

I don't recall seeing any strategies for "Monster" merc missions mentioned here.

So below is a battle outlining the basic strategy against any Ranged or Casting monster. It works some of the time at level 6; and as of yet EVERY time at level 7.

A strategy for non ranged monsters is below; however FK's can easily replace Sprites in this scenario. (Though I wouldn't suggest them for creatures with no retal; like the shrew monster below).

Apparently, with Melee only creatures, the AI thinks that the Monster is a stack of just one unit; so it will not attack stacks that are much larger than itself. Therefore, single stacks of FKs ans cannon fodder prove to be useful; with Druids left as one large stack.
for ipslne:

Yours is a different strategy than the one I usually use for ranged monster quests (though I've only done a handful of monster quests in the first place). It's a similar to the strategy used for general ranged units in a hunt or something. But I've never considered doing that in merc quest as well. I've got to try that one the next time to see how it works for me. :)
How do you beat the ranged monsters? I'd like to see other strategies in case mine ends up not working at some point; so I may be able to try others.
for ipslne:

Well I force them to fight with me in melee by getting my fk/sprites to them asap. That way I can ensure they do not do as much damage as they'll have a penalty. While my fk fights them, my druids and bowmen shoot the monster down. This way they don't deal much damage (except the 1st shot) to my precious bowmen and direct their attention to fks, sprites and druids

Something like this here:

However for ranged units with no melee penalty, yours is a better strategy to use I think.
But at level 7 with 45++ fk and 20++ bowmen, those "boss monsters" arent difficult right?
for Sven91:

No they aren't, but then I will still be unlikely to try monsters beyond the first few levels for low tiers and beyong level 0 for those 5k+ hp ones. I think a level up to 8 would make it easier.

But at level 7 with 45++ fk

It's only 45+ if we have rally as a talent. I personally still stick with advanced fortune for most battles except when those extra units would be desperately needed.

Yes, Monster hunts are so much easier at level 7 and can be won with brute force most of the time. Though it's always good to play it safe. It's very easy to be caught off guard by some of these monsters... especially when they get a nice morale. Also, getting the same amount of damage from each retal (because you do not drop their stack count) hurts alot more than it seems at first.

Essentially, each time they retaliate your attack, you lose potential damage you can do to them and they do not. There in lies the difficulty of Monster battles.
Elf are too strong when they have favorite enemy power
lvl 6 noart elf vs lvl 6 fullart knight with updated bowmen : https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?lt=-1&warid=5130311

Pimp the elvish power :D
Wow, level 6 is a toughish time for elf too.

to mojo: favored enemy makes elf pretty even considering their very low hp and defense. Elf technically has no tanks until level 8, unless you consider 48 fks a very poorly armored tank.
48 fk with stoneskin are pretty decent tanks. not awesome, but they hit quick :)
Another fullart knight is down vs noart elf :P

I kited his swordmen with sprites like he is a mob, he was pissed off though :D
nice one, but knight made mistakes :p
Lol good battle Ami... but you were a bit lucky that he played like a mob ;) Still, good job :)
How do arts effect you in Merc Missions? Well, take for instance... this REALLY annoying Merc: Army of Necromancers. Yeah, this is the one where that right stack of Skelbows increases on each attempt.

Now, this is my first attempt without arts (Army of Necro{4}):

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?lt=-1&warid=4970073

I struggled just to get rid of the Vampires. All three more tries later and I lose with 2 stacks of 6 Liches each, 8 Apparitions, 85 Skelbows and another 216 Skelbows. Noted: I did make a few big mistakes; but not so bad that it would have effected the outcome from lose to win.

The same Merc came around again, and this is my first attempt with full arts (Army of Necro{4}):

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?lt=-1&warid=5163261

3 Liches and 24 Apparitions remaining. Almost beaten on the first attempt.

Mercs and Hunts getting difficult and you're a ways away from level 8? Save up for a good set of arts. I've used half their durability and I already feel they've been worthwhile.
Jesus. If elf had revive power. It dont matter if the morale - 2.Coz elven bowman is almost invincible when come in large amount.
they have revive at level 8
for CrossXVamki:
And since when do elf troops come in large amount? ;)
I suppose larger than he's used to at Level 5 :) I remember when I thought 28 fk was a big deal lol
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
