if not, should I spend nothing on spell power/knowledge for now?

In my opinion, for lv 5 it's best to stick with classic knight as holy knight would only be really good when you have mass spells at higher levels. For classic knight, go for all attack.
Still it's my opinion and others may differ and btw for your recruitment, try and go for max riffiths, then swords and lastly only max bowman. |

you can start with 2 Sp and 2 Kn; those were sufficient for both knight in magic build. rapid and bless were good enough for your swordsmen |

| I have always been an Elf , but I mingled with other factions a bit , can anyone tell me if knights are good PvP , and Do I go knight even if I cant afford the crossbowmen right away ? |
| Knights are second best faction in my opinion but I would strongly suggest crossbows with them |

just like elf, knight has 2 variety too: white and red (holy knight).
red knight can start even with low fsp; while white knight need proper FSP or else suffer some unit amount.
however, i would suggest you stock enough gold to get crossbowmen or warden.
this is important for white knight to farm more fsp to build up your team; for red knight, warden was your killing machine in most non-pvp fight.
also, white knight will cost you the most. you must build all infrastructure that provide units, this will combine with your FSP to give you quantity army. |
| So If I were to transfer to knight , you reccomend me going Red ? I would have gotten rid of one problem which is the FSP , what about the wardens though? Rely on PvE till I get enough gold for them ? That would be way too long and Im genuinely bored of PvE |

in pvp, your low fsp wont effect too significant. also, you may need consider on magic guild, use spells to improve combat effectiveness |
