AuthorPrimary Skills / Dark Elves
I am Dark Elf. I am a old player of Heroes of Might and Magic series, and according to this game, the compatible faction is the best to inflict damage on spells. I know this is a different game, but I am new to the oddities of this one. Searching the top players, mostly Dark Elven, I see they have huge atack and defense, but nothing on spell power or knowlege. I was goin on these skills, but I saw a Wiz doing double my damage with same spell on same spell power.
I want to know if the best way is realy going on Might abillities on DE, cause I realy want to go on this faction, but now I figure I may have to go back with oblivion, and now it will be very costly for my situation.

I know the answer should be in another post, but without any search engine, I can´t figure how to reach it.

Wizard's spell is much powerful in hunter and merc quest.
A lot high lvl DE use attack, because their troops can do most of the damage. For low lvl, I think spell is a better choice for DE. But I don't play DE much, I guess a DE expert can answer for question better. :)

I'll tell you this man. Dark Elves have the worst faction special ability on the server. I tried out playing as a magic DE for a while, just to try it for fun--knowing full well I would lose most of my battles.

Sure enough...as every 'magic' DE I killed, I too died.

So my advice: Stack on attack :)

You are right and wrong in many ways. Shrews are the backbone of our weaken units. They go first and weaken an army. Our main unit in PvP after that is minos or lizards. They deal more damage and arent targeted as fast.

As for hydras they have won me so many battles it is unbelieveable.
So, my answer is not yet done...

I figure I can go back then in later levels. It will be more expensive, but now 10k gold is too much for me and later even 20k will be sooo cheaper (proportionaly)...

Anyway, I don look only to kusika, but many other top players too.

I hope the game is really balanced, and at least, I hope they are working hard to turn it so.

The game is very balanced, every faction has its own benefits and drawbacks and it's quite fun to play.

Dark elves are probably the best faction for ambushing and ambushing needs to be melee to have serious chances of winning ( since enemies have huge amounts of hit points compared to you but AI is not as smart as a human and heroes got less stats than a human in full arts usually ). That's most likely one of the main reasons you see all dark elves being melee. There is a powerful build with mass poison also that could be very good for some fights but overall the might build is simply a lot better.

Another reason for this is the synergy between Dark Elf troops on higher levels. I refer mostly to Lizard Assailant ability to get a free hit for 50% damage when another friendly unit hits a target adjacent to it. That thing works twice when Minotaur Soldiers attack and also every time the very fast Shrews hit.

Also, referring to post 1, do not consider defense a might ability. Defense in the game comes from artifacts mostly and all characters use it the same way regardless of being might or magic focused. The choice is between attack and ( spellpower-knowledge ) when it comes to dealing damage. Also keep in mind 1 potion of oblivion will reset ALL your stats so its quite cheap to change anytime you feel like trying something else :P

Yea Minos/Lizards/Hydras are 'meaty' hehe. But splitting the shrews up correctly, does make them the back-bone in my opinion. Because as you mentioned, the other DE units are slower, and simply 'clean up' what the Shrews could not finish.

At least my build. My def is very low, and my enchanted gear is designed to make my shrews hit really hard---and really fast. 'Shock and Awe' style ^^

Quite simply if you mean Thief Ambushes...Poison build is worthless 90% of the time. Hero's turn comes too late. If you mean PVP via Group Battles, yeah, that Poison build can be lethal against the right people :)
Also another reason why people switch to DE in higher levels is because since DE's special ability (piercing magic) is considered basically useless, having high faction level doesn't matter. If you switched to say, wizard at a high level, then compared to other wizards of your level and several below your level, you would be weaker than them.
Like kusika,he had around 8-10(I didnt check reasonly)wizard skill and higher wizard skill give BIG BONUS(More mini artrifact selection)

YES, Shrews are fantastic ;)

but, IMO he change faction only for TG, wizard is too weak for thiefing.

If you read FAQ, you´ll see its not the way oblivion works
I've used oblivion 3 times last month and that's exactly the way it works.
probably he meant that it doesnt reset ALL points, but only the ones you receive from level up and such (so not the huntersguild bonus etc)
It also resets points from MG upon usage.

The FAQ assumes that oblivion reset only one skill point, RANDOM.

ACCORDING TO THE FAQ:

"It discards one skill point which can be redistributed anew right away. Discarding the skill point is random and, hence, optionless. It means that the higher level your character gets, the more expensive the full discard will turn out to be"

Man, If you used oblivion and reseted all your stats, I want some of that cheat.
