I will give a fully fleshed opinion on this:
YES, I have seen this work on many free game sites. It increases diamonds bought as they will obviously sell for more than the in-game exchange rate many times over. In fact, it is a feature that has attracted me to games. In order for Diamonds to even be in the market they must be bought in the first place so it does not decrease profit on the dev's end.
HOWEVER, they will be fairly expensive on the market. It could greatly alter the selling price of items such as TG Invites and rare items... more likely than not in the "more expensive" direction. Therefore it may do to put a price cap on Diamonds in the market to prevent them from drowning the economy; as well as only allowing Diamonds to be sold for gold, and never to be exchanged--even indirectly--for any other service or good.
NO, this will not encourage multis abuse; not anymore than most other features that could do so. Transfer logs and whatnot would be evidence enough to prove any sort of multi abuse and I would imagine any suspicions could easily be tracked.
So all-around I'd have to say that yes this is a good idea... but certain measures should be taken to prevent it from damaging the economy or discouraging players who cannot afford impossible prices set on Diamonds. |
