So far i have only seen penalties on max. the amount often less... that players have transferred between them to boost etc.
So... if you can max loose the "help" gold you get there is in fact no drawback in cheating.
So any good ideas about why this is? |

Normally penalties are double the size of transfered gold. But since sweepers don't check _all_ log pages, penalty delt is lower. To help with it I'd suggest this:
When you create a topic in CaA post lines from transfer log with transferes, so that sweeper sees it and can calculate penalty easier. |

Make that permanant block. But it's usualy 3rd time that's 'the charm'. For 2nd offence penalty is still in gold, although it's much bigger.

Consider the 1st penalty a 1-gold-warning. Players loose all gained gold and are warned not to do that again... |

and what's the point in doing this when very few of them get really penalized? the mass of the cheaters continue to make their illegal transfers undisturbed. i personally reposted log lines that Kotrin already had found and posted in another topic with obvious violations and no actions were taken against the cheater.
anyone is able to cheat. and some of us can cheat in a very hardly discoverable manner. but generally there are two types of players: those who just don't enjoy their game achievements, made with cheating and those who cheat, if they see that most cheaters get away with it. the second group is a lot, lot bigger... and right now we have a perfect environment for it to grow.
it's not odmen's job to investigate. they don't have time for this. i think we need more sheriff's (players with rights to impose different fines). i'm not even sure if there are any on this server, operating regularly. sometimes we are visited by the only sheriff atm, but i guess he is pretty busy in .ru... maybe some of our moderators would make a good sheriffs. Kotrin, for example, does a huge job discovering player's illegal actions in his topic. |

there is a problem and instead of ascertaining it, let's focus on eliminating it. i have suggested a possible solution. looking forward to see a better one or a real hold-back for mine. |
We did get a new sweeper, recently. Probably as an answer to new wave of complains on cheaters. And he started doing his job already. Whether one person is enough or not - we'll see.
I'd say, if we get a bunch of topics in QaH like 'why my char was blocked i don't understand!!1!1!' and 'why my gold negative???' then 1 person is enough :)
But it takes time for result to be obvious. So.. have patience.

Err.. here's a bit of info: most of those who end up in Kotrin's topic in CaA are cheaters who apply for WG membership. So he's not exactly looking for them :) Then again, maybe he is... But you're right - we should not speak for them.

btw, the cheater i mentioned in post #8 wasn't ever applying for WG membership. and was still found by Kotrin. but even if he looks mostly in such a big group of players' logs - who else could be a better sweeper for them than he?

Nah, jk. Kotrin would be better for it :) And there are other people, reliable and suitable. But if Administration feels there are enough people managing CaA, maybe we should trust them. |
odmens actually don't think there are enough people for that. they say it themselves in their interview.
all i want to start is "anyone suitable for sheriff campaign". and i don't think anybody really cares who exactly these people will be as long as they are reliable. the game needs them as well as it needs more cheaters punished. the only thing the game don't need is "talking-only". let's think of how to deal with it and how to make it happen instead of giving arguments how it won't ever happen.
once again - here is a presence of a possible solution of the problem. if anyone has a better one, please, post it here so we could discuss it and eventually gather an ideologically consistent solution, which we could give to the odmens. |

Well, thanks for all the kind words, but I'm not sure they are all deserved...
I'm not the one posting the most in CaA forum, and even worse, I'm not finding cheaters. They just try to apply to Warriors' Guild at a point in time and I check their transfer log. Sometimes, these contacts are made via private messages, which explain why there is no trace of a Warriors' Guild membership fee in their transfer logs. I decline their invitation before they pay to join the clan.
The idea of having non-administration people able to block others is a bit frightening. Can you imagine the possible disaster if such a power ended in wrong hands? |
