AuthorALERT: Phishing Website Threat - account got hacked?
we had receive some complaints from players about account getting hacked or losing gold, resources for nothing after visit some PHISHING websites.

======
Q. What is phishing?

In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as user names, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users, and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies.

======
Q. What is happening now?

there is no official announcement from admin that Lords of War and Money (as LoWM following) had tag with any website to allow players to vote and get any exp, resources and gold.

any website asking for your LoWM account id and password are consider as phishing. you might lose anything from you account if you give out the id and password. we might not pay any responsibility on those cases.

REMEMBER, staff of LoWM will never ask for you password. And, there is one and ONLY one website for LoWM.com - https://www.lordswm.com.

=====
Q. What can i do if i had visit those phishing websites?

You should change your password asap before someone invade and causing any lose on your account.

Q. What can i do if i found any lose on my account?

After change your password, check your transfer logs. It can show where your gold or resources gone and you can make report.

You can post the problem under Complaints and Application section OR write a mail to admin (https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=4) to complain. Be patience, it will take time to solve the problem out.

Yelling in fourm or chat will not get problem solved.

Posting the phishing link will result in ban for spreading harmful links.
Yea, someone that is now blocked sent me that link. I forwarded the message to Arctic so he knows about at least 1 of the phishing sites.

Admins should send a formal announcement that everyone can read, so that the children who are younger and more naive don't think they can "get all kinds of free stuff by simply typing in their login and password."

Since most players never visit the forums.

Cheers,
LS
I understand that those links are harmfull, but is it really that big?
i see like 7 of the same topics, but in different forumparts, warning about it while i havent seen that link once, and even if i had seen it, im not so dumb to click on it.....
i havent seen that link once
there were at least 8 topics with it, deleted by now.

and even if i had seen it, im not so dumb to click on it.....
17 people used it. Some are multi of phisher, but others were players.
for Shebali:

Does it harm them just to click it, or do they have to enter username and password. Surely people arent mad enough to type in there real password.
6.

some REALLY smart people with a lot of time on their hands can, get into your cookies for LoWM and find a password entry, don't think just entering a password and username can get it stolen, or you might get a keylogger, which will track anything you type at a specific website (you can bypass this by using a on-screen keyboard though).

bottom line, if its not LoWM, and not a clan site, you shouldn't take that chance
for 4 , there is a player whoo is sending a message that contains the link , he is now banned by moderators. i ve received a message from him with title did u saw this ? .... so he is maybe encouraging people .. if anyone of mod wants his name i can give it with a PM .

Surely people arent mad enough to type in there real password.
You'd be surprised :/

As for 'does it harm you if you just take a look' - I think only phisher knows that.

Still, looks like it's over now.
