I don't want to assume that until he confirms it.
But if he did mean important, The thieves' guild is not important. It is an optional part of the game. You don't have to do it.
Most people want to do it because it gives you permanent initiative and thieves artifacts and potentially other perks |
If you meant important...
It is simply something else to do whenever you're bored.
When you're on a Lease though, it is pretty much the ONLY thing you do for 2 weeks or less lol! But after that, you go on your own pace...and at TG level 4 you get a TGI of your own to Lease/Sell.
You also get a random thief art at each level completion, and the free 1% initiative to your Hero with each successful level completion as well.
