smithing efficiency on unenchanted items

Authorsmithing efficiency on unenchanted items
i just calculated with a few leather jackets that i repaired.. i found out that they repair costs plus the reduction of the sell value is 333. the costs of selling and buying a new west is 363. soo.. i need 90% repair efficiency to be as effective as selling and buying new items in the shop. (because 333 is near 90% of 363) is that really true? because if its true, it seems like the only advantage of smithing is when you repair rare or enchanted items. but even then you need those roughly 2885 x 4000 = 11.540.000 gold first to get to 90% repair efficiency. true? it's so surreal, i think i must be mistaken
Then the repair costs plus the reduction of the sell value will be 333 at any efficiency.

It is still cheaper to replace one than to repair it. Repair cost is roughly 40% of its cost from artifact shop, while resale value is 65%, so you pay only 35% for a full durability one, and no value reduction unlike repairing.
Even assuming 90% repair efficiency, it is always cheaper to buy a new shop art.

The guild warns that smithing is an art, and usually leads to money loss. Rare or enchanted artifacts repairing certainly make an exception, though, since you cannot buy them in the shop.

I disagree it not always cheaper to sell the old and buy a new shop art. What you need to consider is the difference between the percentages of repair efficiency and repair cost. As a general rule if the difference is 15% or bigger it is cheaper to repair it some times. In my experience the artifacts with more Durability are affected more.

agree with 4# ,he is good at math :)

also u can calc by yourself if u like math.my method (in old link part):

alright if i believe the .xls only on the repair of VERY few items saves some gold - even at 90% efficiency! repair is only for the enchanted.
When you calculated the cost for an artifact you use tow parts. The one is the gold you have payed for it minus the refund you take in the end. The second part is the amount of battles the artifact has been used. You divide the first part with the Second part
E = Cost-Refund)/Total battle

Every time an artifact is repaired the Refund of it (the price Empire buy its) it is decreased by a known and constant factor and the Cost of it is increased because of the repair cost. So the first part increase.

But the second part also increase. So if the increase of the second part is bigger than the first E will decrease. To calculate this you need the non constant factors, which are the following :

A : Repair efficiency the higher it gets the more uses for the artifact.
B : Cost of repair the lower it gets the more uses are cheaper.

So what you need achieve a decrease in total cost is B-A to be big enough.

About the effect of it :

Darkname repairs for 60% efficiency and asks only for the 40% of the cost. A Sword of Might should be repaired 7 times with this offer. The saving will be 6300 gold after 401 battles.
why do smiths repair items 60% for 40% of cost.. for them its such a money waste. they could repair their own items instead and use them.
for Ektoras:
agree!

my calc a SOM is 6 times in the same condition :)

and some XP of me:
1.more expensive item ,more gold u save .sometimes can save thousands of gold
2.some cases items is out of calc . example a light axe should be fix 3 times in calc .but actully saving less than 1 gold . so u should fix light axe 2 times
3.in some case some free smith also don't save gold becuase sell price dropped .so u should calc frist
