Thief armor for example are rarely used so there is no demand no high price doesnt matter if only 1-2 is available when u cant sell it for month for low price. Thief amulet or cloack is usefull and used in alot gbs. :)

one reason there are more thief arts is ppl sell used thief arts on market ... more then half of those arts on market are used so why u want to buy new one when used are available for lower price? out of 5 thief amulets 3 are used available for lower price ... |

You cannot count the number of lots as the total number of thief artifacts supply. You have to count how many arts people have and want to sell. Thats the total number of thief arts. Less low level thieves, less arts, higher price.

In this case, it is not due to inflation, but simple market forces.
If you find it too expensive, then do not buy it. If there are many others like you, the price might come down.
As mentioned many times already, it is all about supply and demand.
If there is an oversupply, and the sellers are a lot more desperate than the buyers, then the sellers will undercut each other to unload the items resulting in a lower market price.
If there is a high demand, the buyers will try to outbid each other in order to secure the items before they run out. Naturally the price will increase as sellers will try to find a good price for their items.
It is only when there is a balance in the supply and demand will the market price stabilize.
If you care to find out more about how this "supply and demand" theory works, you can read more about Adam Smith's works which pioneered modern economics.
In one of Adam Smith's most famous works, "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wealth_of_Nations), he mentioned something which fits the current situation.
Of the Natural and Market Price of Commodities:
"When the quantity of any commodity which is brought to market falls short of the effectual demand, all those who are willing to pay... cannot be supplied with the quantity which they want... When the quantity brought to market exceeds the effectual demand, it cannot be all sold to those who are willing to pay the whole value of the rent, wages and profit, which must be paid in order to bring it thither... Never. I think the market price of the thief amulets right now is pretty much what it's worth, so unless there are some changes in the thieving mechanisms, don't expect the price to drop. |
