How could i get one? No one in the clans i am in rents them and i dont have the money to buy one...
Since grand update on december 1st, it is illegal to rent TGI. The only way to become a theif now is to donate real money to get 80 diamonds or buy a TGI from a player or from the market (between 950K and 1 Million gold at present time). That is the only way.

PART 04 - How to join a Thieves Guild?
how to join a one aliance ?
#2 Not exactly. Anyone with bigger property than 3 mil. gold can rent TGI, because average market TGI price is within 30% so it could be a gift as well which is allowed.

@5

You're right, but when the receiving party gets TG level 5 (several months later probably) and his own TGI, in order to be able to give back the TGI he should have too 3 mil. gold so it is within the 30% gift rule.
I don;t think the 30% gift rule covers repayments of Loans.

Otherwise many people that have taken a loan (due to lack of gold) would, by your interpretation, be unable to repay the loan because they did not have enough gold to give 30% as full loan repayment.

The 30% "Gift" rule covers exactly that - Gifts. Loans can be repaid without limitation on how much gold or resources you possess.

Can you imagine the circumstances otherwise? "Well, I have enough money to repay the loan, but because that is more than 30% of my wealth I can't repay. Unfortunately that means I will have had the loan for more than a month and I could penalised for that. I lose either way."

Not something the Admins would want IMO.

Actually, I see what you mean. As the TGI was originally given as a gift, it is not a loan, and the holder would, indeed, have to have in excess of 3 Million gold to "re-gift" the TGI back to the original owner.

What it really means is that unless you *already* have enough money to buy a TGI yourself, it is unlikely that you will be able to "payback" anyone who is generous enough to give you a TGI in the first place.

I really shouldn't post before breakfast.

:)

Mmm, technically you're absolutely correct Grunge.
But what 5 and 7 are talking about is an "unofficial loan". TGI's can't be "loaned" or "rented" at all, per definitions of the rules.
However, if you have a good mate, or a clanmate or just feel a bit naive you can GIVE your TGI to another person (provided you have 3M gold on you) as a gift.
Then, when that person achieves TG-lvl 5 and have 3M gold on him/her, he/she can "return" the TGI as a gift.

Obviously this is a way of bending the rule about the TGI not being able to be loaned or rented, but it's within the law. So far...
I think TGI can be returned back and no 3 mil gold needed. I suppose everyone has right to refuse a gift even after long period:) So TGI will be returned with "your gift back".
Not the best idea to exploit loopholes...
I dont think so that it will be said as refused if u used it
does it ?
@11. TGI loans are not allowed. It has to be a gift. Thus you need the 3 million. The other person when thy hit TG5 could sell the TGI and then gift back at least 350K or so.
Not that I advocate exploiting loopholes, but how about the following:

Suppose you have TWO friends with TGI who are willing to loan it to you. The Admins consider loaning TGI illegal because they do not believe (rightly) that it's possible to attain TG 5 within 30 days to give the TGI back. But what if you get the loan from friend A. Then before your 30 days lapse, friend B loans you another one, which you use to "pay back" friend A. You still owe a TGI, but now your 30 days start over with friend B. If you still can't get to TG 5 in another 30 days, friend A can reloan you the TGI which you use to repay friend B, and so on. In effect, you'd be renewing your 30 days period indefinitely.

But don't quote me. If you try this and get blocked, I take no responsibility. :)

And that would be quite unwise to follow your advice. Actually, admins watch like hawks any in-game transaction involving a TGI. As soon as you get one from a "friend", it will light red alerts all over the place. Then you can kiss your character goodbye (and your friend his TGI) long before the 30 days to return this "loan".

It's not illegal however to have a friend donate some of his gold (following usual donation rules) to help someone get his TGI.

There are so many things wrong (both meanings of the word) with what you said. But I know better than to argue with you, or the Admins.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to gift a TGI. Therefore gifting and gifting back a TGI to avoid renting isn't a good idea at all.
