The in-game effect is when you data mine the server by spamming it with multiple requests for information. This slows down the server. And in extreme cases it is considered a DoS (Denial of Service) attack, which is a form of hacking.
This is probably why the statistics page isn't updated in real time and that most new accounts are rarely updated or even added in. Programming-wise there is no problem to having it update more often, but server load is a problem. |
