Rilin walked up and down the ourside the palace , uncertain.... not knowing what to do. No word from Syrian. No word from Lognar. She should tell the Empress. She should request an audience.

but if she did.....

Up and down the beautifully kept courtyard she walked and then, casting a last look at the Palace she turned to go home to Yellow Lake again.

"I can't" she resloved. "I will wait for Syrian. He is a good boy underneath his ....youthful nature. He will do the right thing. I must wait."

"Please let him do the right thing" she said to herself, almost in prayer to the twin gods".

She headed for the tavern to take a quick lunch before the walk home.
Rilin,

"I've intercepted your past correspondences - really it would seem the roads of the Empire are not as safe as they once appeared to be. However, to your fortune I was able to come across them. As the (most relieved) former-Chronicler for the Empire, I may be of some help to you in deciphering the forgotten archives of the Empire and even letting some lost information I've gleaned from my workings with the Herald Arctic into circulation. I look forward to your reply."

Skunder
Oh Skunder, why oh why did I not ask you in the first place?

I entrusted the documents to my adopted grandson, Syrian, and he has taken them to Jedi Knight. He is taking a long time to come back to me with any news. I hope that no harm has come to him.

Be sure that I will give you sight of them as soon as he returns. My own translation was poor and may have led me into wrong thinking about the content.
Rilin,

"Though I can't be certain of why I didn't come to mind first, I can at least say that I would understand it. Since leaving my former position, I have cast myself far from the notice of the Empire and Her dealings. Life now is a small cabin in the Deep Woods with little else around me but nature and memory. I await your questions of what once had been."
Rilin felt shock at the news from Naviron....Syrian...dead....on an errand she sent him on...what of the letters? who has them?

She did not believe it. No, she did not believe it.

So why would Naviron write such a thing?

She stared into space, and hoped to hear that rumours of syrian's death were greatly exaggerated...prefereably from syrian himself.
Yes, yes, my troops got trampled by some ogres... but syrian won't die so easily, my Lord. You'll find that out in due time... I just can't get mind set to what a menace they can be. Ogres... what a deformed way of life. I pity them. But I will outlast them all. They're too stupid to have such a sense of time.
Now, to pressing business...

Dougul browsed through the pages with growing enthusiasm.
"It says here that she killed a prince in another Kingdom!".
Syrian seemed surprised, but Dogul was excited. "What do you know?... Our Empress, an assassin aswell!"
"I'm sure there's more to it... the letters were sent to followers of our Empress. Not to Her enemies.
"Yes", Dogul said, lowering his voice, "but you know... She might be uneased if this comes out".
"Why would She?"
"Think, syrian! To kill a Royal... it would do Her reputation no good". Everything was clear in Dogul's mind: "We should see how far She is willing to keep this a secret... Maybe some reward could come our way for keeping this in the shadow"
"Blackmail", syrian thought. And suddenly everything became clear in his mind too. "Come outside, Dogul... There are too many ears inside this place", and he rose to leave. Dogul followed him outside, and they went around the back. Plans had to be made! He followed syrian, but as soon as they turned the corner, syrian drew his dagger and swirled around him, the cold blade against the back of his neck.
"What... what are you doing?", Dogul said in surprise.
"We are keeping it in the shadows, alright", said syrian. I have my own intent for that... and you will be dead".
Syrian was standing behind his former master, and Dogul looked in front of him to the window of the backroom. Inside was dark, and the glass worked like a mirror; Dogul perceived a red glow in syrian's eyes. A devilish glow.
Syrian looked back in his eyes, and the fear he saw demanded a reason. So he whisperered in his ear: "I am driven by demons... They taunt me. They marked you to die... I'm sorry", and the steel blade embedded in Dogul's neck for a quick and painless death.
As he walked away from the body, syrian felt nothing special. His thoughts were about blackmail... and what could come of it if he tried. Aren't such opportunities too scarce to pass up?
ahhhhhhh ANOTHER demon controlled guy
" I don't know whether to hug you or dock your pay!" Rilin adressed the captain of her Elite forest keepers, the old warrior Pegolas, who had two pieces of news.

The first was indeed that Syrian was not dead

The second....

Pegolas took a deep breath. Rilin could be so...so Rilin at times.

"Well bosslady, your chief druid and I don't trust your daft grandson. He's too young for the task you gave him. Your answers were always closer to home. Chief Druid translated your letters before you gave them to Syrian and that's the crux of it. He has waited until now to give the translation to you and I am telling you because I am the only one whose ass you are physically not able to kick."

He handed over the translations. Rilin regarded him for a minute and then hugged him.

"She is seriously unstable at times" thought Pegolas, shaking his head and forcing a smile as he took the biscuits that she offered him.

"No gold then" he thought and laughed silently to himself
The letters

First fragment

(illegible) bear any longer this waiting. Surely no-one (illegible)…… and the means are to hand. My new friend from the lands across the ocean is stalwart and will stand by me.
In what in my heart I know must be done (the rest is water damaged and impossible to decipher

Second fragment

He is worse today. He is raving and has twice threatened to invoke a long forgotten but still lawful process to dethrone me. I cannot allow that. For the good of the Empire , and for his memory , if we cannot cure this then I see no alternative

The rest is not legible

Third fragment

I bless the day my dear friend dared the portal. I am not alone in this dreadful business. She will help me. It breaks her heart I think. I believe that she is more than fond of my brother, before this sudden illness they spent many days in eachother’s company (illegible)…… but she has the means to make sure that Shishan will not suffer.
She has made a potion forbidden in her realm to make the end fast and painless. Matters of state require her to return home next week. I know the pressures of sovereignty well, but I do so wish that she could stay longer, at least until after the burial. We have vowed to (illegible)……together, and share the burden.

Our Empress DID go to the far off land...
She met the other Empress and her brother...
The two Empresses plotted to kill the brother...

" Oh twin gods sustain me" prayed Rilin, as she came to a realisation.

Syrian would use this information to his own advantage, and it was all her fault.
ahhhhhhh ANOTHER demon controlled guy

I´m not a "demon controlled guy". I am the master of my own actions. When Nairys died, I came alive. You know me as "syrian". You can call me what you will, I'm but a nameless shadow, born of the undying spirits of the Ancient Demons; I know no Good or Evil; I recognize only power, and I exert my own.

Whatever words I whispered in Dogul's ear, you shouldn't take too seriously. They were meant to ease his passing... just to let him know, in his final moment, at whose hands he was falling.
Lady Rilin,

I have returned with some startling news.

It would seem that Prince Shishan has been missing for many years now. He was out on an exotic hunting expedition, and never returned. Their scouts have been endlessly searchiing for him, to no avail. Most of them assume he has passed beyond this world.

This ends my current report, but Iwill continue to investigate more before returning home.

~Lognar
Oh dear oh dear oh dear

from what Lognar says the unthikable seems true. Our Empress and the far off Empress must have killed Prince Shishan.

Whatever can I do about this? And what is Syrian doing more to the point?
Syrian is OBVIOUSLY having a pie at the inn. Hurry up man

'Syrian hurriedly eats the rest of his pie'
Indeed quickuser I am near frantic wondering what the lad is doing with this information.
Syrian sat at the table and got ready to write something. He knew what to say, but... to whom would he say it? The Empress? He knew Her Highness's mail was thoroughly checked... so writing to Her would mean a lot of people would become aware of the... hum... "affair".

"My Lord Councilor Kh'Everst", he started.

Maybe he should be addressing Councilor Kalirosh, the head of Homeland security. Or Councilor Quetlisse, of the Foreign affairs department. But the leader of the Dark Elf Faction seemed a better choice. He would ceratinly have the instinct to recognize what was at stake here.

"I recently came into possession of some strange letters. I will send you some fragments. They hint to murder, by the hand of someone we all pledge allegiance to. I feel too many people know of this already, and that it may harm the Crown. And I feel I should do something about it. Consider me at your service, my Lord. I can deal with this problem.

Sincerely,
syrian"

Now, attaching this thing to the bloody bird... and sending it to find Councilor Kh'Everst. I just hope those dragons of his don't eat my bird. Well, not until after it delivers the message, that is. Stupid bird...
Sry lay in the woods...tired with her labor..lazing watching the sky.Suddenly, a bird blazes fast through her sight.Curiously, she gets up and looks at it.

The bird is one of a kind;rarely found in those terrains...*GROWL*That growl was from her stomach...Lust overwhelmed her (hunger too) as she set out for the bird.

She took her crossbow and aimed at the bird.*BULLS-EYE!*The bird cried and then fell to the ground...Sry reached it and took the bird..along with it,she found some papers, around its neck..Anxiety again grabbed her and she hastily untied the papers and read it...

"My Lord Councilor Kh'Everst",

"I recently came into possession of some strange letters. I will send you some fragments. They hint to murder, by the hand of someone we all pledge allegiance to. Syr..syrian that outlaw was here too...her blood boiled as she read it but also left her flabbergasted.Syrian and his group of Lunatics were into something big she thought. The name of the councilor made her thnik if this was some major kind of a "conspiracy"....Her hunger had gone.A new quest has begun for her.

P.S.The letter is now in possession of Sry,Sheriff of the Green Woods and the surrounding terrain...a part of East Bay-cum-Seraph tears.
Sry (aware to a very few)...has been living for more than 325 years...Amazin' time for a mortal human..but she spent 300 years of her life as an elf..and so had witnessed many great events...lived under the rule of 4 Empires...But when the current Empress came into command..a covert operation was made in which a large number of elves and other creatures were taken to secret concentration camps and they were...murdered..brutally.

This move came after the assassination of the Previous Emperor..late father of Our Highness..but Sry somehow ....(other stuff irrelevant)Blah blah....

So Sry knew about the oldest libraries ever in history of the Empire (formed 1.5K years ago) located in the deepest of the forests and guarded the oldest forms of life..Sry cast a spell and flew into the library passing through it..She was banished from that place after a tiny..accident (abt that later(; )

She had come here in a hope to translate the rest of the letter...
Hey whats up with syrian.

Syrian my friend please return with the letter to Rilin and let her take the decision and we should solve this matter as quickly as possible.
