which is the best monster to make spirit link with?

It'll be better for responses.
But I would think the best is the Vampire, since they stick around a lot longer and if your opponent's defence is low enough, you can drain on retaliation more than you lose when they attack you.
But also note that your skeletons archers (when you get them) would tend to be more of a target of attacks than your vamps in general, so you may get more mana recovery there, but at a great loss of Skeletons.
Since the mana recovery is based on damage dealt to the creature, putting Spirit link on your Ghosts is not that good since the Ghosts don't get damage 50% of the time. | The one that's gonna die next.
Most of the time, it's either vamp (PvP, or melee creature in PvE), or bowmen (PvP too, or range PvE). Never on ghosts, as they have very low HP.
