Authorspells and artifacts
do the effects of these thing stack up, for example, if you wear a MH maskrobe (10% ranged damage reduction) and use the spell evasion(70% ranged damage reduction) will the effects add up to 80% or will i have 70%?
I believe they would multiply upon each other:
meaning you will have 1-(1-0.1)(1-0.7) = 73% protection
but why, that doesn't make sense..

yes it would, so you're saying that pierce-resistant armor doesn't exist? what if womeone wears 3-inch plate of steel on them.. would you be able to pierce it with an arrow? lol...

It doesn't matter much if it makes sense or not. If ranged percentage adds up, things would be imbalanced. Factions with a lot of shooters (elf, for example) would become very weak since their shooters' shooting would be useless.

You didn't take magic into consideration :))
Here's why it works that way - if 70% of shots are "blocked" by evasion, and 10% are blocked by MH maskrobe, then if its random 70% * 10% = 7% of shots are blocked by both. So, the total number of shots blocked = 70 + 10 - 7 = 73% of shots.

Actually, if I can prove that I can take a medieval arrow, launch it from a medieval archery weapon and have the arrow pierce through that 3-inch thick steel armour, would you accept the 73%?

Let's assume there was introduced extra-super-grate maskrobe which gives 50% ranged damage protection.

Based on formula #2 1-(1-0.5)(1-0.7)=85% protection.
Evasion reduces damage by 70%, rest 30% makes half damage yielding totaly 15% of based damage (85% protection).

Based on on formula #1 protection is 70%+50%=120%.
Damage dealt is -20% of based damage. It means that after damage number of units in shooted troop should grow.
