I am writing a python script that downloads my transfer log, and does some calculations on the buildings. It is NOT a hack attempt. Am I allowed to do it? I will give the source code in my next post for admins to check that it is not a hack attempt.
**Some lines are missing because if it is considered a hack I don't want it to be on the forum** |

Admins don't read Q&h. May be you should discuss that script with Arctic (i know that he logs in very seldom) via PM? |
well Flour makes all kinds of scripts all the time. i dont think there is anything wrong with it. |

Please do not use my name as an excuse for someone who wrote an illegal script.
I do not write all kinds of scripts all the time.
I only write scripts that comply with section 2 of the rules.
2.1. It is forbidden to use any wares to emulate the player's presence in game in any way, as well as any wares that prevent the server software from functioning properly.
2.2. Any actions leading to traffic increase or considerable server overload are forbidden. In particular, automatic and semi-automatic scripts referring to the database or running game mechanisms are forbidden. Before using such applications, it is recommended to contact the Administration through the Secretary and receive a special allowance.
P.S. from what I see this python script is in clear violation of 2.2. |
well I am trying too.....but after a long time I met another programmer who posted something straight forward in forums...Congratulations |
I do not consider this script in violation of 2.2. I assume that the script will need to be run only once, and will have practically no effect on traffic. If in doubt, just run it when there are few players online.
The wording in 2.2 indicates that it applies to scripts that are run non-stop (automatic, semi-automatic).
But that's just my opinion. |
Running through the transfer log of a player is not overloading at all ... the server can withstand trillions of higher loads. |
Running thru the transfer log is a clear breach of 2.2
Admins consider any increase of traffic as a breach of 2.2, so this means even if the script opens 1 webpage (clicks on 1 link), this a breach of 2.2
All current legal scripts do not emulate any player action at all. Current scripts only edit what info that is already available to the player on a single webpage. |
All current legal scripts do not emulate any player action at all.
The opposite is true. All popular, legal scripts emulate player actions. |
