Author | Trinket distribution |
This is the 3rd year in a row that it happened to me, that I believe it can't be a coincidence. I always get the most of the trinkets that I need the least of, and vice versa.
For example, this year, of the 28 trinkets required to open the entire vault, I need only 3 lanterns, but 9 stars, 8 firs, and 8 snow flakes. And as usual, I already got twice as many lanterns as firs and flakes, but only 2 stars so far.
I think the game is actually designed so that the chance of getting a particular kind of trinket is inversely proportional to the number that you need.
Does this happen to anybody, or just me? |
it's random. i know some people that opened it in 5-10 hours. it took me 1 day. at one point, all i needed to open the entire vault was 7 snowflakes. and i had:
Stars: 5
Lanterns: 8
Fir-Tree: 15
Snowflakes: 0
it's just luck. some people get all the ones they need some are like you and me. lol |
I think it's random. Two of my friends get all vaults open with just 1 extra trinket |
its luck based....I opened it with only a few extra. |
i have 19 wasted
just need 3 trees! |
That doesn't tell me anything. What I want to know is, how many of each type you need, and how many of each type you actually get.
I suspect that the people who opened the vault easily are also the one lucky enough to need a fairly even distribution (7 of each type). |
I needed 2 stars,I've got 17 |
I needed 2 stars,I've got 17
Out of 28, you need only 2 stars? Dang, your distribution is worse than mine. |
The numbers of trinkets we gain at such an event is too low for us to figure out their distribution. We need to gain about 1000 trinkets to make a fair statement about their distribution and thousands more to be almost sure of their true distribution, though I think it should be an uniform distribution (0.25 for each trinket type).
The probability of getting exactly the trinkets that you need is somewhat low, so we always end up needing some trinkets and getting the others instead. Your observations are similar to what I have experienced, yet I am not sure what to believe. Maybe if more people would confirm it also happened to them as well, we could draw some conclusions. |
for Geryon:
2 Stars,19 Fir Trees,3 Snowflakes,4 Lanterns. |
I only need 1 fir tree to go. |
My vault is now closed, so I can't say for certain how much of what I needed.
My approximation from memory is:
3 lanterns
9 snowflakes
6 stars
10 trees
What I have gotten from combats (I've counted):
12 lanterns
9 snowflakes
14 stars
15 trees
The trees that were needed most, I've gotten most.
Snowflakes were the hardest for me to come by and I needed a lot of them.
My overall conclusions based on the drop numbers of 9,12,14,15 are:
Every symbol drops 25% of the time.
Drops do not in any way correspond to what's needed.
The original needed symbols is just random luck.
It is possible to have a very even spread of 6-8 symbols of each kind.
It is also possible to have a very uneven spread, up to potentially all 28 symbols been the same.
On an average spread, it should take about 40 wins to open all vaults.
Due to some unfortunate drops, it took me 50 wins to open all vaults. I believe my case to be worse than average. |
19 battles, no stars, require 14 stars... can not even open one chess. |
i wish i could give u 14 of my 17 stars,and trade for 1 tree |
If admins were to put in a little more effort...they could code it so that you get the trinkets you need...would be really nice gift that extra touch xD |

you can still look at your vault if you completed it :) |
i can give 5 stars, 5 lanterns, 5 trees, but i need 6 snows....... |
For Hallion: what were the actual numbers? |
