Author | Regarding Creatures' Triggered Abiblities |
For years I have been unsure about how abilities such as Stun, Knockback, Mayhem, etc. work, so I'm going to lay out all of my questions, and hopefully get some definitive answers.
1) Does the number of units in the attacking stack or the recieving stack affect the chance of the ability to trigger? i.e. Would 1 Swordsman have the same chance to stun 100 Wolfhounds as 100 Swordsmen would have against 1 Wolfhound?
2) Does Knockback work against Large Creatures?
3) Do these abilities have a set chance to trigger, such as 50%? If so, do all triggered abilities have that same chance?
4) Do these abilities have a similar mechanic to that of Incorporeal, where if it doesn't trigger twice in a row, it is guaranteed to trigger on the third hit?
I think those questions cover everything that I am unsure about. | 1) Does the number of units in the attacking stack or the recieving stack affect the chance of the ability to trigger?
Yes. More HP in the stack means higher chance for the ability.
2) Does Knockback work against Large Creatures?
No.
3) Do these abilities have a set chance to trigger, such as 50%? If so, do all triggered abilities have that same chance?
Formula:
If DHP ≥ THP, then
Probability = 25% + 3% * (DHP/THP);
else
Probability = 25% - 3% * (THP/DHP)
where:
» DHP is the total remaining HP of the damaging stack;
» THP is the total remaining HP of the target stack;
» Trigger probability lays within the interval of [5%;75%];
4) Do these abilities have a similar mechanic to that of Incorporeal, where if it doesn't trigger twice in a row, it is guaranteed to trigger on the third hit?
No. | for 1 3 4, check this: https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=32
for 2, just highlight the ability in the game and you can find your answer. | thanks Magier, that's exactly what I was looking for. | Formula:

i once saw a very informative table at witchhammer, but can't seem to find it anymore... maybe someone else knows where it is? would give a nice visual addition to this formula.
for Magier:
it was stated at witchhammer, that the chance for a trigger goes down after each trigger. i can't see that in your formula... is my intel wrong, or does the formula need a little tweak? | ah. there we go...

The probability of morale/luck triggers = F^(1+[moves befallen so far]-[moves not befallen so far]*F/(1-F)), whence F is Min(0.5;luck/10) or Min(0.5;morale/10), each stack having its own independent counters for morale and luck.
In general, troops are befallen with morale/luck according to its normal probability. In case if it hasn't trigger for several consecutive turns, the odds of getting it on the next turn increase each time, and vice versa. In a hypothetical experiment with infinite amount of triggering, the general probability is still equal to 10% per morale/luck point. | [facepalm]
my posts don't say anything about the special abilities (like stun, knockback, mayhem)
sorry peepz

That's a very good answer. | closed by Lord Dizbe (2012-06-24 03:15:47) |
