Authorplayers could buy unblock
using bought diamonds players who have been blocked could buy their character an unblock, maybe the charge could depend on seriousness of crime...that way players who realise their mistakes can get back into the game, and administration characters have extra income

This means that the game will allow rich people (in real life) to cheat. This will surely destroy the game. Yes, it might increase the game funds but will promote more cheaters in the game.

What if a person realizes his mistake, but doesn't have enough money (in real life) to donate to the game? It will be unfair to that player. Yes, we need a system to find out which person has really realized his mistake and who hasn't.

My initial thought was much as #2.

But thinking further this idea may have some potential.

Would need to be limited though to max 1 use per character and not be available for the most serious crimes or ones where it is obvious a player knowing broke multiple rules on a large scale.

that was going to be my reply to post #2 xD

Yes, I agree it is ok, but won't it be much unfair to those who can't afford to pay? I mean, what does it teach, we can get away with small crimes only if we are rich? Just think about that part...

it's not like it would be 500 diamonds... :P
As it has been wrote, this idea is ok if it is limited to some situations:

- A player who was blocked for unreturned loans, is unblocked and with purchased diamonds exchanged to gold, he returns the loans
- A player who insulted other player, can be unblocked if the other player agrees, the victim receives some gold from the violator as compensation
- some other situations too

What about some kids playing this game? I guess it will be hard for them to persuade their parents to pay...
for Vlaer:
try to look at it from another perspective. Player blocked for violating the rules has to do something positive for the game. Paying for unblock for not serious crimes means that his/her money might go for game maintanance/development, what is good for everybody.

hmmm...that is a valid point. So if I consider both things, I'll give it:

I understand it comes from a good intention, but:

- Reasons for block are not fully defined, volountary, to avoid exploitation of text vulnerabilites (thanks smarties). A player being blocked for "dubious" reasons will live the obligation for payback as a theft. Nothing good comes from this feeling.

- people already get warnings and penalties. These are in gold, yes, but still ought to be enough for the player to get back on the right track. It is not because you tell "next time i will", several times, that adding a further chance will change anything.

- no matter what, i would feel really bad if somebody that cheated and got an advantage that I can't get could just pay to keep it. I want them out of the game, full stop, and if they come back, they will have to start from scratch and do it the hard and honest way.

To be honest, I'm quite surprised by the amount of threads suggesting alternatives or solutons for blocked players.
Because, at the end of the day, when one has a clear file on his back, he doesn't need all of this care. Just play clean, and you'll be safe..

My exact thoughts :)

i have seen 1 player is unblocked with remark: block change to penalty. forget that player though. but this is fairer than using diamond.
Well the price shud be high so the player unblocked cannot even think about cheating ;)
I think that everyone deserve a 2nd chance. A "second chance" with penalty of gold is fairer than using diamond , I agree.

But, we have to think that admins also need money to keep server running, so, if the player was blocked for unreturned loans or for afking too much (if this wasn't his fault) he should have a option to avoid the block. Donating 10-20 diamonds would be ok for me.

True that admins need money to keep the server running, but in my opinion this is not the way to get it. Admins have already put in place incentives to spend money on diamonds. I agree with post #14.
in bridge tournaments, if a player disagrees with a field director's judgement against him, he/she can apply to appeal committee. that application requires a deposit like 2-3 times of tourney entrance fee.

committee decides as follows : (listed by frequency)
a) if application is somehow reasonable but director decision is still better solution : director decision stays, deposit returned
b) if application is not reasonable, just a remote hope to remove director given penalty, deposit burned, decision stays.
c) if director decision is somehow debateable, committee gives a new, lesser penalty, sometimes removing penalty totaly. deposit returned.

cleary option a) can not be applied in LWM for blocked cases, but system can be implemented to challange keeper decisions (instead of a simple PM to secretary)
