Well as Hpsim mentioned, they are useful in Monster MGs.
But I wouldn't recommend them in PvPs, too slow and are merely a tank, 60*17 = 1020 HP without Large Shield, too less. Initiative and Speed both are low. I wouldn't recommend them, but I'm not the best to advise you on that, just giving my experience of my battles.

| From my personal experience, they are worth in level 8-9. They have much more hp than ghost, a good ability (infects are knight killers), and they can do medium damage. They have low speed and low ini, but you can recruit a great number of them, then it become a bit balanced. I'd buy it, but then, it is up to you ;) |
infected zombies are also useful in hunt,
esp against large units unless the creature has unlimited retal |
| if you use them right they have to fit in with the style you play the people that are really good know how to combine recruitment arts with there talents and strategy everything has to be correct with how you think and you will be most anyone |
| if necro is your main faction, then build all upg, they are too important in MG monster missions, pvp they are useless it doesn't mean that they are bad upg. |
