Well, considering that you will be forced to win an ambush now or get fined (rule 3.16), we might as well try to make the most out of it. Remember: you are not a thief when you are travelling. It would suck winning against a thief and not getting any guild points for it (I'm more of a guild point freak than an FSP freak). This is particularly interesting:
There is also a chance to fall into an ambush of a thief player whose combat level is the same as the Ranger's. Guild points may also be gained by successfully defeating a thief in the ambush, but for that, one must have joined the guild (passed the entrance test) and it should be selected active (not the Thieves' guild).
I guess that would mean that if I respond to a call for a thief in location X but got ambushed in location Y instead and win then I would get 1 ranger guild point. Or does it not? I'm thinking that it might be beneficial to "respond" to a ranger call even if you're not actively "rangering" just so you get something if you happen to win against a completely different thief. Is there like a cooldown in switching between thieving and rangering? |

it costs 1000 * CL to switch, so 12 000 gold in your case each time you switch between rangers guild and thiefs guild. |

I don't think this how rangers guild works.The battle link u prvide is not of ranger guild but plain pvp ambush.
Rangers guild is kind of dual battle against AI [as fer as I played in .ru] its a dual[or 2vs3 now after recent changes though I haven't played this 1] against AI with a ranger as ur helper with few troops. |
| If Rangers Guild gives good fsp with low exp, it would be popular. But if relation is better or same in Thieves Guild, then I see not point in switching. |

yes, when you change to ranger, you lose that bonus ;)
I can safely say : once a thief, always a thief.
there is no extra fsp as far as I know. its just easier (cheaper ?) to become a ranger in short term. long term, imo, thieves still cheaper. we dont need to buy horses and run like mad dogs after our target :p |
| What about from perspective that some factions are better than others for thieves guild? Are those more in favor for ranger? Or someone like me, who has not joined thieves guild yet? Which would/will be better if you start from scratch? Not to mentions that you devide one time large expense into multiple smaller ones? |

after merge TGI will be half cheaper than now. You could get it in 3-4 months of constant enrolling and saving gold.
Ranger's guild seems to need expenses all the time to participate (buying a mount). You will not get back the gold you spend on mounts. Once you get to TG5 you can sell TGI and get all gold back.
So when we look at financial long term side, Thief Guild seems to be the best option. |

Rule 3.16 was introduced in November 2010, and does not effect thiefs guild in anyway. As they currently apply. Your interpretation of rule 3.16 is also extremely incorrect. That rule only applies to stage combats when one person wins lose and I posted the rule. Please do not give such blatant misinformation for your replies.
3.16. Staged combats leading one of the parties to losing a priori will be punished for. A staged combat by definition is one where: Any one of the parties or party members intentionally loses to the other for any reason different from having technical problems with access to the game; combats with not full armies (including traveling with 1 unit and falling into thief ambushes), unless it is a combat against a character of lower level, in which case highest tier creatures may be not recruited); giveaway combats in which players intentionally move their troops to become an easy target to opponent without any tactical interest (which may be consulted with any players of same combat level). Instigation to losing a combat and promising to lose a combat is also forbidden.

Rangers guild is for noobs. First of all, you need twice the amount of guild points to level up than you need thieve's guild points. So for example, to get to TG level 5, you need 600 points. To ranger's 5, 1200 points. And so on.
You don't get artifacts every level. Currently, you get ranger arts at lv 4, 8, and 10 (which needs 8600 points).
And, last but not least, ranger's guild is more expensive. To participate in ranger's guild, you need to have a mount. Don't remember the price atm, but it was 6k a week, i think. And unlike TGI, you never get that money back. ever.
That won't stop annoying wannabe cowboys interrupting people's ambushes though, i'm sure. :P Beating up rangers is great fun, though! Ran into a bunch on .ru... |

it costs 1000 * CL to return to the Thieves' Guild if you have abandoned it and not every time you witch friend. The entrance to Rangers' Guild is absolutely free as it says in here:

I like the Rangers though. I plan on joining it. Down with the thieves! They loot, plunder, they leave the innocent people in darkness, with no money to even find shelter for the night. How cruel? The mere thought of them makes my blood boil and Ranger's guild will help me to satisfy my appetite of killing them.
